Because Isla Lane believes in her son, Benjamin Shaw, she thinks Benjamin is currently with Easton Holmes, but she’s unaware that Easton is actually at the Turner Family’s place.
"I’ve been at my eldest brother’s home this afternoon and didn’t see my third brother at all. My eldest brother is at Uncle Turner’s place now. If you don’t believe me, ask my sister-in-law. We just came from Uncle Turner’s place," Thomas Fisher noticed Isla Lane’s doubt towards him and, to prove he wasn’t lying, he pointed to Alice Turner, who was standing beside him, to vouch for him.
That man really is addicted to lying, even deceiving his own mother. His character is truly questionable.
After making a basic judgment of Benjamin Shaw’s character in her heart, Alice Turner lifted her eyes towards Isla Lane and Alexander Shaw who stood not far from her, finally fixing her gaze on Isla Lane.
"We just came from my house. Easton and my sister are at home," she said truthfully, revealing the real situation. She had no obligation to conceal the truth for that man.
"How is that possible? I just called Benjamin, and he said he was with Easton," Isla Lane had called Benjamin Shaw before leaving, and upon seeing Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher together, she called Benjamin again. Both times, Benjamin said he was with Easton Holmes.
Benjamin spoke so confidently that as his mother, Isla Lane believed him without doubt, but now she heard a completely different version that was contrary to her son’s claim.
If it were only Thomas Fisher saying so, Isla Lane wouldn’t doubt Benjamin, but now that Alice Turner also said it, she began to feel uneasy.
She wasn’t as unwavering as before, starting to question her son’s version of events.
Hearing this, Alexander Shaw, standing beside her, concluded that Benjamin Shaw had lied. With a hint of exasperation, he blurted out, "You’ve been deceived by your son."
Convinced of being deceived by his son, his expression turned somewhat unpleasant.
"He’s not here, nor is he with Easton. Where could he possibly be now?" Isla Lane still harbored doubt and wasn’t as convinced as Alexander Shaw, who firmly believed Benjamin had lied to her.
With these words, none of the other three present responded.
Alexander Shaw, mindful of Alice Turner’s presence, contained his anger, trying not to lose his temper in front of his daughter-in-law.
Thomas Fisher wasn’t sure where Benjamin was and didn’t dare to speculate. What Isla Lane wished to know was also what he wanted to find out.
Where did his third brother go today? Usually, it’s fine if he disappears, but tomorrow is their eldest brother’s wedding day.
