Lily Turner hadn’t yet solved the mystery in her mind when her phone was taken away by Easton Holmes. She tried to grab it back, but he dodged her.
She planned to wait for him to finish speaking before taking back the phone, but he hung up after just one sentence. She was displeased, "I haven’t found out everything I wanted! Why did you hang up?"
Her face was full of displeasure, and her beautiful big eyes were brimming with dissatisfaction.
"Why do you even ask him? He’ll just freak you out. Don’t bother with him from now on." Easton said as he placed the phone into his pocket, but just as soon as he did, it started buzzing.
He thought it was Thomas Fisher calling again and planned to ignore it, but as the phone continued to ring, a frown creased his handsome brow.
This kid! When will it end?
Easton took the phone out of his pocket, ready to pick it up and scold Thomas Fisher, but when he looked, it wasn’t Thomas calling — it was his father-in-law, Christopher Turner.
Thankfully, he didn’t start scolding right away; otherwise, he wouldn’t have had a good day, and it’s certain he’d get an earful from the person next to him.
"Who is it?"
Seeing Easton staring at the phone lost in thought, Lily Turner leaned in closer, lowering her head to look at the phone, and saw the word "father-in-law" pop up instantly, "It’s from my dad. Why aren’t you answering it?"
Just now, she thought it might have been that woman calling when she saw him staring blankly.
Turns out it wasn’t, giving her a brief scare.
Hearing Lily’s voice, Easton quickly snapped out of his thoughts, his long fingers swiping across the phone screen as he picked up the call, "Dad! What’s up?"
As he answered, she pressed her ear close to listen as well.
"You and Lily went out?"
On the way home, Sophia Wood asked Christopher Turner to call home to ask what Easton and Lily would like to eat, so they could bring them something on their way back.
But when they called home, Aunt Hua said the two had been out for a while.
Sophia feared Easton had taken Lily back to the old courtyard, and her mood sank. She urged Christopher to call Easton again to see what was going on.
Easton glanced at Lily, who was leaning against him, and nodded, "We’re out getting some fresh air. We’ll be back soon."
Getting some fresh air? He just wanted to propose to her.
He wondered if she had guessed it or not. By the looks of her, probably not.
"Have you eaten?"
Christopher’s mood was exceptionally good, and his tone was much softer than usual.
Easton didn’t think much of it, as this was how Christopher had always treated him since their first meeting.
But it was different for Lily, who grew up in the Turner Family. Although Christopher wasn’t as fierce as her mother, he had never spoken so gently before.
Not only had he never spoken to her like this, but he also hadn’t spoken to her sister or brother this gently.
Lily pouted, showing her discontent with Christopher’s favoritism. Easton happened to notice her little pout and raised an eyebrow in puzzlement.
"We’ve eaten."
Puzzled as he was, he didn’t forget to respond to the person on the other end of the line.
"Oh, then enjoy yourselves and come back early."
"Okay."
After a brief chat, they ended the call.
