Lily Turner’s sudden retirement from the entertainment industry was unexpected. Although she didn’t hold a press conference to announce it, the few people she worked with still learned about it through other channels.
For Hazel Jackson, it wasn’t just a work colleague she was losing. In her heart, she had long considered the three-years-younger Lily Turner as a friend and a beloved sister.
"The entertainment industry really isn’t for me."
Lily Turner didn’t directly agree or deny it; she simply responded ambiguously. However, the expression on her face said it all.
Having spent several years with Lily, Hazel Jackson understood her to some extent. She could see from Lily’s words and actions that she was living very happily and cheerfully now.
"Whatever happens in the future, as long as you’re happy, that’s what matters." She didn’t pursue the matter further because she already had the answer in her heart.
"We should all be happy in the future."
Not being pressed with further questions by Hazel Jackson, Lily Turner sighed with relief in her heart, picked up a bun with chopsticks, and placed it on Hazel’s small plate, "Hazel! Let’s eat, or it will get cold."
"Sis! You eat too."
She didn’t forget to grab a bun for her own sister, Alice Turner, and after giving a bun to each person on either side, she began to eat herself.
While the three of them were happily enjoying their buns, Sophia Wood came in with a plate holding two eggs. Seeing that the sisters Lily and Alice had already come downstairs, she turned her head and shouted out the door, "Aunt Hua! Alice and Lily have already come down; you can bring the rest of the eggs over."
After calling out, she walked into the living room with the eggs.
"Miss Jackson! Have some eggs."
Sophia Wood placed the plate of eggs in front of Hazel Jackson. Today, her daughter’s look depended on Hazel’s skills, so she couldn’t be negligent.
Hazel Jackson quickly swallowed the bun in her mouth and thanked Sophia, "Thank you, Auntie! You’re too kind."
Being pulled in to eat earlier and then having eggs specially brought to her, she felt a bit embarrassed; she had never received such warm hospitality before.
"Hazel! Don’t be so formal with my mom; hurry and eat." Lily Turner pushed the plate of eggs closer to Hazel before looking up at Sophia Wood across from them, "Mom! This is my friend, Hazel Jackson!"
Seeing the puzzled look on her mother’s face, Lily knew exactly what confused her mom and hastened to explain.
Her words still surprised Sophia, who sat down in a chair opposite the three. "Miss Jackson is your friend? What a coincidence!"
From the way they looked familiar with each other, she had already concluded that the two were friends.
"Hazel is..."
Alice Turner opened her mouth and affectionately called Hazel Jackson "Hazel." After saying it, she felt a bit abrupt and tilted her head to seek Hazel’s opinion, "Miss Jackson! Can I call you Hazel like Lily does?"
In her heart, she was willing, but she didn’t know how the other person felt about it.
"Of course you can!"
