Hazel Jackson, much like Alice Turner, is someone who’s very dedicated to her work. They both share the same nickname: "The Tireless Daughters!"
The two of them hit it off instantly and began chatting effortlessly. Although they work in completely different fields, it didn’t hinder their conversation at all.
While Hazel Jackson was chatting with Alice Turner, she didn’t neglect her main task, which was doing the makeup for the bride today, Lily Turner.
Her makeup skills were adept and seasoned, and Lily Turner trusted her completely, allowing her to freely work on her face.
Sophia Wood didn’t know how skilled Hazel Jackson was as a makeup artist. Seeing her chatting warmly with Alice Turner while doing makeup, she was quite worried that the makeup wouldn’t turn out well, but she didn’t quite know how to address it directly.
"Alice! Come over for a moment and help me figure out how to deal with this," not knowing how to confront Hazel Jackson, Sophia Wood had no choice but to call Alice Turner away. Without a partner to chat with, her worrying problem was entirely solved.
Alice Turner was unaware of Sophia Wood’s true intentions, and though she was engrossed in the conversation, she felt a bit reluctant when Sophia called for her. Despite her reluctance, she still got up and left the guest room with Sophia.
"Mom! What’s the matter?"
As soon as they stepped out of the room, Alice Turner tugged at Sophia Wood and asked.
Acting as if she didn’t hear, Sophia reached out to close the door and led Alice toward the living room.
"Mom! I can walk by myself."
Getting pulled silently by her mother toward the living room felt odd to Alice Turner, though she couldn’t quite put her finger on it at the time. It just felt plain weird.
Sophia Wood still pretended as if she hadn’t heard anything, silently leading Alice Turner into the living room. Only after they were far away from the guest room did she release Alice’s hand.
"Alice! Stay here in the living room to entertain the guests, and don’t go back in there to chat with Hazel. Once Hazel finishes Lily’s makeup, you can chat with her." Sophia Wood didn’t hold back anymore and directly spoke about why she had pulled Alice out. She knew Alice wouldn’t be upset and wouldn’t misunderstand her intentions.
Upon hearing this, Alice Turner finally understood the real reason Sophia had pulled her out and realized why she felt weird earlier. Turns out her mom was worried she might disturb Hazel Jackson while she was doing makeup for her sister.
"Mom! Your worries are unnecessary. Lily is beautiful even without makeup, and besides, Hazel’s makeup skills are top-notch; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been Lily’s go-to makeup artist for several years." Understanding Sophia’s worries, Alice Turner promptly explained to her mom in detail. Otherwise, her mom might continue worrying for who knows how long.
Sophia Wood only knew that Hazel Jackson was Lily Turner’s friend, not that she was also Lily’s personal makeup artist. Hearing what Alice said, she was quite surprised, "How do you know? Did Lily tell you?"
It wasn’t that she didn’t believe it; she was just too caught off guard by such a coincidence.
"Yes, Lily just mentioned it to me."
After Alice Turner confidently replied, she turned to head back to the living room, but just as she turned, Sophia Wood grabbed her again. She instinctively looked back: "Mom! You really don’t need to be so..."
Ding-dong!
At that moment, the doorbell rang from outside.
"Go answer the door quickly!"
Sophia Wood directed Alice Turner to open the door, thereby preventing her from going to find Hazel Jackson.
