The secretary left, and shortly after, Sophie Wilson walked in, accompanied by a middle-aged man in his forties.
Every hair perfectly in place, not to mention the impeccably tailored suit—he looked every bit the picture of a meticulous man.
Stephen Wilson’s gaze circled the middle-aged man puzzlingly, finally turning to Sophie Wilson, "Sophie, you’ve been too willful, hasn’t it been days since you last went to work?"
"There must be limits to acting on impulse. If you don’t want to work, just say so earlier. Don’t let it affect the company negatively."
Stephen Wilson immediately launched into a lecture—a father with strict expectations for his children indeed.
Sophie Wilson internally smirked. So many days had passed since she’d left the Wilson Clan, yet Stephen Wilson hadn’t even called to ask about her feelings?
Wasn’t he supposed to love her?
Knowing full well she was aggrieved, yet not showing the slightest concern—Stephen Wilson truly "loved" her.
Absolutely believes in her ability to heal and recover.
"Mr. Wilson, I came to discuss something serious," Sophie Wilson’s words made Stephen Wilson visibly pause, then anger flared.
"What did you just call me?" Stephen Wilson glared at Sophie Wilson furiously, as if she had committed an outrageous act.
"Mr. Wilson," Sophie Wilson replied with a light chuckle, "Mr. Wilson isn’t that old, surely you can hear clearly?"
Stephen Wilson’s face instantly darkened, even more than the bottom of a pot, his voice suddenly rising, "Sophie Wilson, is this your upbringing?"
"Upbringing?" Sophie Wilson spread her hands helplessly, "I only use manners with those who have them. As for you..."
Sophie Wilson glanced up and down at Stephen Wilson disdainfully, her gaze sharp like little knives, making Stephen Wilson feel uncomfortably as though his elegant façade was being stripped layer by layer, exposing all his most hidden secrets.
"Did you teach me anything from a young age? Or did you expect Lily Warren, who couldn’t wait for me to die, to teach me?" Sophie Wilson’s scorn and contempt were utterly unmasked.
Such an attitude made Stephen Wilson incredibly furious. He roared, "Sophie Wilson!"
"Mr. Wilson, doing this will make me feel like my personal safety is threatened," Sophie Wilson sighed helplessly.
Stephen Wilson was trembling with rage, "You..."
"Mr. Wilson, let’s get to the point," Sophie Wilson smiled at Stephen Wilson, cutting off his impending reprimand.
"What point? Don’t think you can change the subject." Stephen Wilson was not falling for it, glaring angrily at Sophie Wilson, thinking if he didn’t properly chastise her today, she’d become even more unruly?
"Sophie, I’ve always thought you were a bit unfairly treated concerning your sister, and wanted to compensate you properly, but I never expected you would..."
"You actually knew I was unfairly treated?" Sophie Wilson stared in disbelief at Stephen Wilson, as if hearing something astronomical, "Then not even one phone call from you?"
"I thought you’d come around since we’re family, and with time, you’d understand." Stephen Wilson frowned, looking discontentedly at the insensible Sophie Wilson.
So, it turns out, all along, it was her fault.
Sophie Wilson burst out laughing, "In that case, let’s talk about my financial matters."
