Eva was immediately stunned.
The amount of information in that sentence was quite overwhelming.
The woman in front of her, was she their... boss’s wife?
Sophie Wilson is actually... the boss’s illegitimate daughter?
So what is Sophie acting all high and mighty about in the company?
"Sophie is an illegitimate daughter?" Eva’s tone was noticeably higher due to excitement, but when Lily glared at her, she realized her voice was too loud and quickly toned it down, saying in a conspiratorial manner, "You’re too generous to be raising an illegitimate daughter!"
"Sigh..." Lily let out a gentle sigh, "The one who made the mistake is her mom, not her. What does an ignorant child know?"
"Her mom abandoned her; could I just watch and do nothing?" Lily’s kind demeanor was almost radiant enough to make her a living Buddha, able to bear miracles just by knocking her head with lumps.
"Mrs. Wilson, you are truly kind-hearted," Eva said in admiration.
"I am kind, but this kid has a big heart," Lily sighed painfully, "wants to grab things that don’t belong to her."
Eva now understood, Mrs. Wilson was targeting Sophie because Sophie wanted to grab Grace Wilson’s inheritance.
"Mrs. Wilson, even if I wanted to help you now, I can’t," Eva said painfully, "Sophie used her status to kick me out of the company."
She didn’t want to lose a stable job, of course, she also wanted the task of helping Mrs. Wilson.
"You see, if I want to get close to her again... it would take some effort," Eva subtly hinted to Lily that she needed money!
"You’re negotiating terms with me?" Lily laughed upon hearing this, "Do you know you’re in danger now?"
"Danger?" Eva looked at Lily in confusion.
"It seems like you did quite a few things to Sophie," Lily said casually while gently stirring her coffee, "Sophie has evidence of you embezzling company funds."
With a bang, Eva’s face turned pale as she shook her head wildly, "She, she’s lying!"
"Is she really lying?" Eva’s panic brought great satisfaction to Lily, "Your uncle knows about this and has even reported it to my husband."
Eva was shocked, eyes wide open, how could this be?
"As for my husband, you don’t need to worry, I can help speak to him. Your uncle probably doesn’t want anything bad to happen to you either. As for Sophie, when you were trying to trip her up, did you do anything that made her hate you so much she wished you were dead..."
"That’s got nothing to do with me." Eva shook her head repeatedly, wishing to throw all the responsibility off, "You were the one who made me do it, I..."
"Do you think Sophie would believe you? She always thought I was her real mom." Lily wasn’t worried; if she couldn’t handle Eva after all these years, she’d have lived in vain.
