In the dense jungle, a whistle blew, and a man in camouflage clothing put away his weapon and snapped his fingers, "Job’s done!"
Suddenly, the man’s eyes flashed, and he swiftly sidestepped two steps away. His companion, who lunged at him from behind, couldn’t stop in time and fell face-first into the mud.
"Pfft... pfft... Why are you dodging like a leopard?" the companion complained, climbing up from the ground.
"If I didn’t dodge, should I just wait to be tackled by you?" The Leopard snorted, casting a disdainful glance at his companion, "You’re not some great beauty, you know, I’m not interested in men."
Hell, talking as if he was interested in men!
He’s straight too, okay?
"The mission was completed ahead of time, I was just trying to celebrate a little," the companion said gloomily, staring at The Leopard. This guy, agile like a leopard, but his tongue, it’s just too venomous.
If you ask him, The Leopard shouldn’t be called The Leopard, he should be called The Black Snake!
"You call this ahead of schedule?" The Leopard snorted, showing no hint of joy, "If The Great Sage were here, we’d have finished long ago."
"Seriously, of all people, you compare yourself to The Great Sage? That’s legendary, man. Let’s not set ourselves up for disappointment," the companion said, truly at a loss for words.
Ambition is fine, but when setting goals, set ones that humans can achieve, forget about inhuman forces like The Great Sage.
The Leopard’s face was painted with camouflage hiding his features, yet you could still tell he had a pair of charming eyes, which now narrowed with a smile that was utterly captivating.
The companion silently cursed, fortunately, he held firm in his stance, or else facing such an enchanting presence, he might have swayed.
"Hey, where are you going?" the companion shouted as he saw The Leopard suddenly turning to leave.
"Heading back." The Leopard waved his hand without looking back, leaving in a carefree and decisive manner.
The companion sighed lightly in frustration, "This again."
The others, who had just finished wrapping up, came over laughing and said, "Come on, that’s just how The Leopard is. Always used to being independent. If it weren’t for him, the mission wouldn’t have gone so smoothly."
The companion sighed lightly, "The Leopard really isn’t keen on partnerships, huh."
"He is, but he wants someone like The Great Sage."
The companion’s shoulders slumped when he heard this, "Where on earth are we going to find someone like The Great Sage for him? Can’t he lower his standards a bit?"
"The Leopard’s former partner was The Great Sage, asking him to lower his standards?" Others sighed, "Back in the day, The Leopard aimed high, setting The Great Sage as his target. Who would’ve expected The Great Sage to suddenly retire."
"It’s what they call, ’having seen the glory, everything else pales in comparison,’ right?"
The companion sweated a bit, "Is it really appropriate to use that here?"
"Anyway, that’s what it means," the person who sighed laughed and said, "The Leopard’s really impressive, he even partnered with The Great Sage. We haven’t even met him."
Someone nearby spoke sullenly, "I did see him once, but what good did it do? Don’t even talk about comparing with The Great Sage, even compared to The Leopard, still a long way to go."
"Alright, kid, The Leopard is now ..." the person gave a thumbs-up, laughingly cursing, "We’re all behind him by quite a distance."
With the mission complete, everyone relaxed into light-hearted banter, while the solitary Leopard, having already finished changing, quietly boarded a plane and left silently.
