As soon as he finished speaking, Yang Fan immediately jumped in to speak.
"I’m Yang Fan, which means ’setting sail’, I’m the top scorer of the college entrance examination in M province and during my high school years, I published at least ten articles in national literary journals. I also won a first prize in a mathematics competition. Moreover, after the college entrance exams, I traveled around the United States. If anyone is interested in the United States, you can come and chat with me."
He spoke with such exuberance and pride, and after finishing his statement, his gaze lingered briefly on Wan Chu’er.
Everyone chuckled softly, and Zhou Weining enthusiastically complimented, "Yang Fan is really outstanding."
Actually, in the first university, you could grab any two students, and eight or nine times out of ten, one would be a top scorer, if not a provincial top scorer, then at least a city top scorer.
After Yang Fan, it was Huang Zhao’s turn. Huang Zhao looked at Li Jia and said, "Both Li Jia and I are from D province. I’m not a provincial top scorer, but Li Jia is. Both of us have won awards in national competitions more than once.
Li Jia is also a grade 10 pianist, and if there’s a chance, Li Jia can play a piece for everyone. Initially, Li Jia even received an admission letter from the highest music academy in the United States, but chose to give it up to stay with me.
We both have planned that after graduating from college, we’ll go to the United States for further studies together."
This blurb surely cheered Li Jia up, who modestly smiled and said, "You flatter me, there’s really nothing special."
Wan Chu’er and Mai Qiqi exchanged a glance and then nonchalantly turned their heads back.
After hearing Huang Zhao’s introduction, some of the smugness faded from Yang Fan’s face.
Zhou Weining smiled and said, "I’m Zhou Weining, a Beijing person, and I’m honored to be part of this teaching activity with several top scorers."
He kept it very simple, not mentioning his own achievements, but his gentle tone was quite likable.
Mr. Zhang interjected: "Zhou Weining was directly promoted from our school’s youth class, and by the age of fifteen, he already held two national patents."
Everyone exclaimed in admiration; being from the youth class is no easy feat, and having national patents is even more impressive.
Li Guohui blinked and chuckled, "I’m nowhere near as impressive as you guys; the only thing I can brag about is having participated in several debate competitions during high school."
Apparently, he was quite the eloquent speaker.
The group’s attention then shifted to Wan Chu’er and Mai Qiqi.
Mai Qiqi smiled and said, "I’m Mai Qiqi, and this is Wan Chu’er. We are roommates and both study Computer Science. The champion performance at last year’s welcome party was put on by us two."
Without boasting too much, she also hinted at a university achievement to not be underestimated.
With Mai Qiqi’s words, Wan Chu’er simply smiled and nodded to everyone, opting not to speak further.
Li Guohui said, "You really keep things simple."
The train ride was six hours long, and although some of the young people thought quite highly of themselves, they quickly started joking together.
Li Guohui brought out two decks of cards, one for each table, and soon everyone was laughing and playing cards.
Wan Chu’er and Mai Qiqi naturally teamed up, their coordination nearly flawless, winning eight out of ten games, nearly driving Li Jia to bicker with Li Guohui.
"Li Guohui, just how are you playing?"
"Li Guohui, are you mesmerized by Wan Chu’er? Whatever she needs, you just hand it over, but we are supposed to be a team!"
Li Jia was almost ready to crack open Li Guohui’s skull.
"Are you even a Li? You might as well change your surname to Wan."
