"Brother Jiang, save me!"
The girl clearly wasn’t prepared to let Jiang Shaoqing get away, as she lunged at him with that shout.
Jiang Shaoqing dodged, and Shang Kaiwen nearly fell, only the fact that she wasn’t wearing heels today to make her acting convincing prevented her from totally losing balance and falling flat on her face.
She was inwardly complaining, wondering why the anticipated hero saving the damsel in distress didn’t happen.
Isn’t Jiang Shaoqing supposed to be the embodiment of justice, a man with a heroic aura?
Seeing a weak woman like her being bullied, shouldn’t he have stepped forward and forcefully stood up for justice?
Then she could repay him for saving her life.
Isn’t this how it always goes in TV dramas?
But Jiang Shaoqing isn’t following the script!
"Don’t mess around, Brother Jiang, save me! I don’t know these people at all. I was just about to go and visit your mother when I ran into these two. They started saying indecent things as soon as they saw me and followed me. You have to save me, Brother Jiang." Since Jiang Shaoqing doesn’t like being proactive, she would involve him in this incident whether he liked it or not.
Shang Kaiwen clung tightly to Jiang Shaoqing’s arm from behind, pressing her soft body close to his, breathing against his chest. Any man would probably feel his blood boil and roll up his sleeves to protect a beauty!
Jiang Shaoqing peeled Shang Kaiwen off of himself; if he didn’t, this woman might have knocked him down.
"Oh, another busybody shows up. Let her go quickly, or you’ll regret it," they taunted.
"Exactly, two against one, you should see if you’re even qualified. If you don’t want us to beat you to a pulp, you’d better get the hell out of here now," the two thugs’ eyes brightened—it was finally time for the hero to show up; they had prepared well for this scene.
Just waiting for this kid to make a move.
"Brother Jiang, please save me!" Although Shang Kaiwen was pulled away, she still desperately clung to Jiang Shaoqing.
Her big eyes brimming with tears, looking so pitiful like a pear blossom bathed in rain, a sight that would soften and stir any man’s heart.
"Wait a minute, have you had enough of acting? It’s the middle of the night; you aren’t tired, but others are. If you haven’t finished, go on, I need to get home for dinner." Jiang Shaoqing’s words stunned the three of them there.
"What... what do you mean?" Shang Kaiwen asked incredulously as the scene felt so real, she couldn’t see any flaw.
"No particular meaning. To think you’d go to such lengths to approach me, Shang Kaiwen, let me tell you in earnest, even if I end up not marrying anyone in my life, I will never be interested in you. There will be no interaction between us, I really am not interested in you, so stop coming to my house and pretending to perform in front of others. You might not be tired, but I feel tired for my mother and my grandfather.
I have been quite decisive even in business, can’t you see there is absolutely no possibility between us!"
Jiang Shaoqing’s directness stunned Shang Kaiwen, unsure of what Jiang Shaoqing meant.
Was he exposing her?
The two thugs looked at each other, wondering if they should still continue the act.
They had taken the money, it wouldn’t be right not to carry on.
They gritted their teeth.
The two men rolled up their sleeves, "Kid, stop yapping about what to act or not, I’m not clear on that, all I know is if you don’t leave, intending to spoil our good deed, we’ll beat you till your face is unrecognizable."
The two had already decided to see the act through till the end.
