Enzo, like all others within the Mental Plane, was bound by the rules of this dimension.
If we consider the concept of freedom, it almost seemed like the beings of the Origin Land were the most free of all creatures in the universe!
In a single moment, Daniel’s thoughts exploded into being, only to dissolve almost as quickly as they came. This process was materialized within the Mental Plane.
Countless treasure chests appeared around him, then shattered and dissipated into the space around them.
Enzo, observing this spectacle, furrowed his brow as he scrutinized Daniel.
"A human? What are you doing here?"
Despite being restricted by the laws of the Mental Plane, Enzo still retained his intelligence. He was no mere automaton.
Daniel opened his mouth to respond, but instead of answering immediately, he turned his gaze toward the enormous treasure chest not far ahead.
Around it, a number of smaller treasure chests had materialized again, seemingly resurrecting the ones that had just been destroyed.
"If I told you I ended up here by accident, would you believe me?"
Daniel casually tossed out an explanation, not bothering to fabricate an elaborate story. His thoughts were simple: if a conversation was possible, he would engage; if not, he would fight. If he couldn’t win, then Time Stream would handle it.
Enzo, hearing Daniel’s answer, paused for a moment.
"By accident, you say?"
Enzo had been living in the Mental Plane for countless years, observing various races from all walks of life. The reasons for their arrival in the Mental Plane were as diverse as the species themselves, yet all had their own agendas. But Daniel was different—he seemed here for no particular purpose, casually drifting with no clear aim.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Enzo nodded.
"I believe you. Your words seem genuine."
As their eyes met, Daniel continued to perceive Enzo’s thoughts using Psychic Perception.
To his surprise, Enzo’s thoughts were extraordinarily pure, almost childlike in their simplicity. There were no complex, jumbled ideas at all.
"Is this human telling the truth?"
"Based on my experience, he must be telling the truth."
"Yes, he is."
Daniel had read the thoughts of countless creatures, but this was the first time he had encountered such clear, uncomplicated thinking. He found it difficult to sense anything further from Enzo’s mind.
"Mental Plane welcomes awakeners from any race."
"But I do think you owe me an explanation—why are you destroying the treasure chest in front of you?"
Enzo pointed toward the giant treasure chest made of fleshheart’s thoughts.
"According to the rules of the Mental Plane, you are not allowed to destroy the thoughts of other beings without reason."
As Enzo spoke, Daniel quickly grasped the crux of the matter. If the rule was that one couldn’t destroy another’s thoughts without a reason, then surely, if he had a reason, he could break this rule.
With that in mind, Daniel asked the question directly.
"But if I have a valid reason for destroying this treasure chest of thoughts, then I’m not violating the rules of the Mental Plane, right?"
Upon hearing Daniel’s question, Enzo appeared to fall into deep thought.
Daniel, ever vigilant, had already read Enzo’s thoughts through Psychic Perception.
[If there is a reason, can it be destroyed?]
[According to the rules, it seems so.]
[I, too, destroyed some scattered treasure chests earlier, but didn’t face any consequences.]
[So, as long as there is a valid reason, it’s allowed.]
[But how do we define a "valid" reason? The key point is whether it causes harm to the entire dimension...]
Enzo, momentarily thrown off balance by Daniel’s question, spent a full two minutes contemplating the matter.
Eventually, he spoke, offering a simple answer.
"Yes, if you have a valid reason, then it is indeed permitted."
However, Daniel was left in deep thought.
Although Enzo was a Fake God level existence, his mind was so straightforward, even somewhat naïve.
Daniel had encountered numerous beings, and typically, the stronger the creature, the more complex their thought process. But Enzo was different—he seemed to be entirely focused on upholding the rules of the Mental Plane, with no ulterior motives or personal gain.
Shaking off his confusion, Daniel realized that Enzo was still staring at him.
After a brief pause, Daniel decided to be candid.
"I have a personal vendetta against this creature, so I want to destroy its thoughts."
"But until now, I wasn’t aware of the rules of the Mental Plane. So..."
Before Daniel could finish, Enzo interrupted him.
"What did you say? You didn’t know about the rules of the Mental Plane?"
"This is impossible! I placed the rules right at the entrance."
Daniel was momentarily stunned.
"But I never sensed their presence!"
Enzo, almost as though reacting in a split second, vanished from sight.
A moment later, he reappeared before Daniel, his expression dark with frustration.
"It’s not your fault. The rules I wrote for the Mental Plane were stolen."
What?
Daniel was dumbfounded. He never imagined that something like this could be stolen!
After all, wasn’t it just a set of guidelines? What could possibly be worth stealing?
Enzo, clearly exasperated, rubbed his temples, sighing in resignation.
"Actually, more than two thousand years ago, there was a troublesome being who caused chaos in the Mental Plane."
"I think her name was Milla, a devotee of the Luck Goddess."
"Though I captured her several times, I couldn’t do much."
"That crazy woman kept mumbling, saying that rules are meant to be broken."
"Dealing with her has been an absolute headache!"
Daniel’s lips twitched in response to Enzo’s description. Meanwhile, his avatar turned to look at Milla, who stood nearby.
Milla, as if sensing his gaze, casually asked,
"Lord Daniel, why are you looking at me like that?"
She let out an awkward laugh, almost as if she had been caught doing something wrong.
"Lord Daniel, say something, won’t you?"
Daniel, his eyes narrowing, turned to Milla and asked bluntly,
"Go ahead, tell me—what exactly have you been doing in the Mental Plane?"
Milla, caught off guard, hesitated before answering.
"Well... I haven’t done anything terrible. It’s just that I need to break the rules to increase my tier."
"You know, outside the Mental Plane, the rules of other planes are extremely strict. So... hehe..."
