Reincarnated As A Wonderkid Chapter 246

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was a library of ghosts.

60,000 people, stunned into a profound, reverent silence, were all trying to process the same impossible thing: the goal that had just broken the sound barrier.

The only noise was the delirious, screaming celebration from the tiny pocket of Liverpool fans in the corner and the sound of the Inter players... wait, Liverpool players, mobbing their new, white-haired god.

Leon was at the bottom of the pile, the breath being crushed out of him by a joyous, 200-pound Virgil van Dijk, his ears ringing with the triumphant screams of his teammates.

But the only thing he could hear was the terrifying, silent echo of the message in his own mind.

He had just scored the greatest goal of his life. And he had no idea how he’d done it, or what it had cost.

"I... I THINK I NEED TO SIT DOWN," the commentator stammered, his voice a hoarse, disbelieving whisper.

"I have been watching football for forty years. I have seen the impossible. But I have never, ever seen a ball move like that. That wasn’t a shot. That was an event. A seismic event. Leon has just declared war on the laws of physics, and physics has unconditionally surrendered!"

The game restarted, the score locked at a chaotic, beautiful 3-3.

But the dynamic had completely, irrevocably shifted.

The Spurs players, who had been playing with a confident swagger, now looked unnerved.

Every time Leon got the ball, a palpable wave of fear went through their team.

They were triple-teaming him, defenders scrambling to close him down, terrified of another reality-bending thunderbolt.

This, in turn, created acres of space for everyone else. Liverpool, sensing the fear, began to play with a renewed, predatory arrogance.

In the 75th minute, Mo Salah, now finding himself in a one-on-one situation, produced a moment of magic, tying his defender in knots before firing a long shot that was brilliantly tipped around the post by a sprawling Vicario.

From the resulting corner, a powerful header from Konaté was destined for the net before being heroically cleared off the line by a Spurs defender’s head, a moment of incredible, last-ditch bravery.

"SAVES! SAVES EVERYWHERE!" the commentator roared, his excitement returning.

"Saves from the keeper! Saves from the defenders! Spurs are building a wall in front of their goal, and they are using their own bodies as the bricks!" Read complete versıon only at 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝•𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾•𝘯𝘦𝘵

The game was a brutal, beautiful war of attrition.

The clock ticked past the 80th minute. Legs were heavy. Lungs were burning.

In the 82nd minute, the relentless pace claimed a victim. Arnold, who had been a rock in defense, went into a strong but fair sliding tackle.

He won the ball, but his leg got caught awkwardly in the turf. He went down, a sharp, stabbing pain shooting through his ankle. It was an injury.

The medics rushed on. After a brief, painful assessment, the signal was made. His game was over.

As he was helped off the pitch, a look of pure, gut-wrenching frustration on his face, he was given a respectful round of applause from the entire stadium.

The substitute was Joe Gomez, a solid, reliable presence to see out the final, frantic minutes.

The stoppage seemed to suck the life out of the game for a few minutes.

Both teams were exhausted, the draw now feeling like an inevitable, mutually-agreed-upon truce.

The fans were quiet, their voices shredded, their emotions spent.

But then, in the 89th minute, one man decided he didn’t want a truce. He wanted a victory.

Leon received the ball on the halfway line. He looked up. He saw the tired legs of the Spurs players. He felt the hum of the ’Power Shot - Level 2’ in his own legs.

He had a choice. A simple, terrifying choice.

Play it safe, secure the hard-fought draw on the road?

Or roll the dice, unleash the unstable, reality-fracturing power in his boots, and go for glory?

He looked over at the sideline and saw Arne Slot, a man who had put his faith in him, who had built his team around him.

He grinned. There was no choice at all. He was a gambler.

He didn’t even try to dribble past anyone. He just ran into the space in front of him, the Spurs midfield too tired to close him down. He was 35 yards out. Too far for a normal shot. But this was not a normal shot.

He drew back his leg and unleashed the cannon.

The connection was perfect, a sonic boom that echoed around the silent stadium.

The ball flew, a white blur, a comet of pure energy. And then, the side effect kicked in.

Halfway to the goal, the ball, which had been traveling in a perfectly straight line, suddenly, impossibly, swerved.

It was a violent, instantaneous, 90-degree turn in mid-air, a glitch in the fabric of reality.

The goalkeeper, Vicario, who had been positioned perfectly, was left diving at thin air, a statue of pure, bewildered confusion.

The ball crashed into the side netting of the goal, a spot that no footballer in the history of the game had ever aimed for, or could ever possibly hit.

The final whistle blew.

The Liverpool players mobbed Leon, a screaming, disbelieving pile of joy.

They didn’t understand what they had just seen, but they didn’t care. They had won.

Leon was at the bottom of the pile, laughing, roaring, a feeling of pure, terrifying, glorious power coursing through his veins.

But underneath the joy, a cold, hard knot of fear was forming in his stomach.

He had done it again. He had broken reality to win a football match.

As he walked off the pitch, the adoring roar of the away fans washing over him, he looked at the replay on the giant screen. He saw the shot. He saw the impossible, physics-defying swerve.

And he knew, with a certainty that chilled him to the bone, that he wasn’t the only one who had seen it.

That night, as he was lying in bed, the adrenaline finally fading, he opened his system, a desperate need for answers churning in his gut.

The warning was gone.
