Nora took the card with a nod of her head. A pair of eyes glanced at her from behind. They paused on her face, no one noticed it except her.
Smiling, she made eye contact with him peacefully. As soon as he left, the classroom was filled with relentless sighing.
Naturally, the grunting mostly came from the girls, who were still mesmerized by Alric. He was the only one whose surname was not mentioned when he was called on the stage.
Slowly they returned to their class. Just when Nora was walking, a girl intentionally bumped her shoulders with Nora. Nora stumbled but she did not fall.
She glared at the student. But another girl bumped from the other side. Giggles filled the hall.
"Someone thought that he would earn recognition after getting a rank in the pretest. But would it just be enough! Ha. who knew how she had cheated." The voice grew vicious and someone bumped into her again. But this time, Nora had extended her leg. The bumping girl stumbled and fell on her face on the ground. She only returned to her senses when pain hurt her.
"You!"
"Anyone else want to try?" Nora asked softly. Her voice was so sweet as if she was praising them.
Many surrounded her. They were already urged that she had come out of nowhere and got so much limelight. Now they wanted a chance to teach her a lesson and she had given it to them. They looked at her injured body with a condescending look.
"You little brat!" The girls were ready to push her when they heard footsteps behind them.
"Why are you still standing there? There is a quiz organized in your school." They were stunned to see principal Kai standing there with the guests. The girl’s face immediately turned red and they rushed to their classes. Nora bowed her head slightly to the principal.
"Nora! Come here." principal kai called for her.
The woman’s eyes were fixed on Nora as if she was trying to confirm something.
"It seems no one likes her in the school." she sighed and spoke with pity. But her sharp eyes stared at Alric for his response.
"And it should matter to me because.." a frown settled on his lips as he took out his phone and started typing something. He missed the look of joy on the woman’s eyes.
"Alric, you are still cold and heartless. You should motivate the new generation."
"Good morning sir!" Principal Kai nodded.
"This girl is already on the scholarship. She had been working hard for this exam." Nora did not have a good feeling when she met the eyes of a smiling girl again.
"Of course, I will personally train her if she clears the inter school contest. As long as she shows her potential." The principal looked relieved with the idea but Nora’s expression did not change. She only thanked perfunctory before leaving them.
Alric had already started walking away when the woman called him.
"Amaya, I have work. If you need something, speak." the girl pouted. Complaints filling her mind, she looked aggrieved.
"Alric! I have been waiting for your call for days. You have been ignoring me all this time. I have only followed you today. But now you are leaving me alone. Do you not care for me at all?" She wrapped her arms around his and tried to lean on his arm, but he subtly pulled his hand away and took a step forward, leaving her hands in the air.
Her face darkened but she controlled her expressions.
"Alric! I have brought a gift for my aunt. Shall I come with you?" Alric looked at the watch with a look of impatience.
"I am going to the office. You can take my car. My assistant will take you. Then I will leave first." Amaya stared at cold and narrowed eyes.
"Madam!"
"Then I have to trouble you." Amayra did not give up. She put on a bright smile and went to his house.
"Aunt!" she wrapped her arms around Amelia. "It has been so long since you visited your family. Have you forgotten about us completely." Amaya was the daughter of her adopted brother. Though she did not have the blood of Amelia’s family. Her father holds complete power of their family since she did not have a blood brother.
"I am busy these days with my own health issues and following my sons. But I can see that you have grown up into a beautiful girl." Amayra only pouted at her aunt’s reply. She complained how her father was also busy with work and did not have time for family at all. Now her aunt was also busy.
"Even Alric is busy. No one has time for me." She sniffled. "I thought that everyone would care for me when I returned. After all, I will go back soon. Did you not miss me at all." she rubbed her head on Amelia’s shoulder like an aggrieved little child. Amelia’s face softened.
She had always wanted a daughter but she only had one son. After her health deteriorated and her relationship with her husband too. So she did not have another child.
But she cared about Amyra a lot.
"You are going back? I thought you had returned for good. Your family is also looking for a good husband. Why do you want to spend all your time among books and papers." Amelia shook her head. They both held hands and talked about many things.
"Aunt! It is not that I do not want to marry. But you know that I only have eyes for Alric. But he did not look at me at all. Until I gain his approval, I can only resign to my fate and work hard. If only you can convince him to marry me." she cried in a soft voice and sighed.
Amelia shook her head. But she had already made up her mind. She would not let Alric suffer alone.
"Do not worry my child. I will do anything to let you win his heart."
