Shen Heyu walked to the edge of the campus and took out her phone to contact Pei Yansi.
It took a few seconds before the call was answered.
“Where is your daughter?” Shen Heyu’s voice was cold, but she couldn’t help feeling terrified, her hand trembling as she held the phone, “Yuexue is missing.”
Pei Yansi’s voice turned abruptly colder, “What did you say?”
“Where is Yuexue? Did you take her?”
Shen Heyu’s first suspect was Pei Yansi; was it possible that she had taken her daughter just to trap her by his side?
Hearing her words, Pei Yansi almost immediately grasped her implication; he didn’t argue about it as the most critical task was to find his daughter.
His important afternoon meeting hadn’t even concluded yet, but he couldn’t concern himself with it much at this moment. He stood up from his seat, waved his hand to signal the meeting’s adjournment, and then spoke into the phone, “Where are you right now?”
Pei Yansi hung up the phone and was the first to leave the conference room.
The meeting had been crucial, linking up with an international opportunity, but Zhao Jin hadn’t expected him to dismiss it so abruptly.
Seeing him leave, Zhao Jin hurriedly followed him, anxiously saying, “President Pei, the meeting, just like that…”
Pei Yansi didn’t turn back or even glance at Zhao Jin, simply saying, “Nothing is more important than them, mother and daughter. Come with the car and be ready to call the police at any moment.”

It wasn’t an ordinary person.
That meant, this person had been specifically hired to abduct Yuexue.

If that was the case, they wouldn’t harm her.
At least she was safe.
After reassuring Shen Heyu, Pei Yansi had Zhao Jin copy the surveillance footage, then he led Shen Heyu to the car.
Shen Heyu still couldn’t settle down, counting the time in her mind, she said, “I want to call the police.”
Pei Yansi said, “Now is not the time.”
The people who kidnapped Yuexue had not yet contacted them, leaving them in a passive position. At the very least, they had to wait for the other party to make contact so they could respond accordingly.
Otherwise, it was easy to startle the snake with a stray stroke and anger the opposition, which would only endanger Yuexue further.

She shot Pei Yansi a look. Over the past six years, his company and power had surged, clearly marking his progress. Yet whatever methods he had used had evidently garnered him numerous enemies.
Shen Heyu, always straightforward, cut to the chase, “Is my daughter with you?”
The other side admitted without beating around the bush and turned on the phone’s camera, pointing it at a spacious, well-lit room.
On the large bed in the room, Shen Yueyue lay motionless with her eyes tightly shut.
Anxiety clouded Shen Heyu’s mind as she stared intensely at her daughter on the screen, demanding, “What have you done to her?”
“Miss Shen, don’t worry; she’s just asleep.”
The voice from the other side continued, “I know your phone is on speaker. If you want your daughter to be safe, turn off the speaker now. You must be the only one to hear.”
“I also know your daughter’s father is capable and resourceful, but I’m not someone to be trifled with. I’m telling you, if he dares to call the police or pull any stunts, I’ll kill your daughter immediately.”
The woman’s tone was icy, laced with palpable lethality and ruthlessness.
Shen Heyu dared not gamble; Yuexue was everything to her. She promptly turned off the speakerphone.
She then held the phone to her ear and said, “I’ve done as you asked. Now tell me, what would it take to release my daughter? How much money do you want, I…”
“I don’t need money.”
She sat in her hotel room, overlooking the bustling city, with the voice changer active on her phone call.
What she wanted was Pei Yansi himself.
She couldn’t stand that after six years by his side, she had gained nothing from the prime years of her youth, while Shen Heyu appeared and seemingly got everything.
