Chapter 51: Chapter 51 Youth Period
Shen Heyu tried to struggle beneath him but he easily subdued her with one hand on her shoulder and the other gripping her slender waist,
rendering her unable to move beneath his grasp.
“I don’t like to repeat myself,” Pei Yansi’s voice turned noticeably colder, betraying his impatience.
Shen Heyu outspokenly recounted the events of the previous night without any change.
However, her memory only extended to falling asleep in the bar’s hallway, and she was unaware of what happened after, so she did not mention it.
After listening, Pei Yansi gave a cold snort.
“You’re still not being honest.”
“What do you mean?” Hearing his emotionless voice, Shen Heyu’s heart started pounding; from the moment she had entered the office, she had sensed something off about him.
Now with him pressing down from behind, and remembering the pain she had felt before, her heart was racing with fear.
She was on edge, attentively sensing any slight change in the man behind her.
But Pei Yansi didn’t make any further move; after suppressing her and staying silent for a long while, he finally released her and stepped back two paces, looking down at her, “I, Pei Yansi, despise what others have touched. It’s unclean.”
“Do you think I’d still touch you?”
Shen Heyu frowned, hurriedly dressed now that she was free, not really listening to his words, and showed no reaction to the content of his speech.
Seeing her nonchalant attitude, Pei Yansi became even more irritated; it was as if she had already admitted to it.
He had spent the night at the company due to work and hadn’t gone home. He had thought she’d gone home early, but instead, he received a text message from an unknown number in the early morning hours.
The content of the message was a scene of her being carried into a hotel room by a tall and handsome man.
When a man and a woman go into a hotel room together, what was he supposed to think they were up to?
Yet when he asked her, she denied it.
As his thoughts were racing, Shen Heyu had already dressed. She didn’t want to stay with this person any longer. As she was about to ask to leave, the man issued the order first, “Get out.”
His tone was very unpleasant, and Shen Heyu detected a hint of suppressed anger in it, finding his behavior inexplicable. She quickly grabbed her things and left.
After she left, Pei Yansi took out his phone and dialed his assistant’s extension, “Go find out the identity of the man in the photo, who he is. Clean this up.”
His words were simple, without much inflection, yet they carried an endless chill and ruthlessness.
The assistant on the other end agreed and hung up the phone.
Shen Jiangli sat in the president’s office at Shen Group, his slender fingers fidgeting with a steel pen.
His mind kept replaying the scene from last night.
That woman seemed very familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before.
But he couldn’t remember where.
Since morning, he had asked his assistant to check her identity, but now, as they approached the evening end of business hours, the information was finally brought to him.
He looked at the contents; her name was actually Shen Heyu.
The same as that senior from his middle school.
But as he continued to read, he realized she was indeed his former senior!
Shen Jiangli was elated. He had received her help when he was in junior high, but before he had the chance to thank her, his family had already moved out of the country.
For many years, the two had not met again, and they didn’t even have any means of contact.
Looking at the string of phone numbers listed in her information, his heart surged with emotion, wanting to make the call, but he also felt somewhat afraid.
Just as he was indecisive, a call from an unknown number came through on his phone.
He glanced down and saw it was precisely Shen Heyu’s mobile phone!
He answered almost instantly, “Hello?”
On the other end, Shen Heyu said, “I saw the note you left. Give me a bank account, and I’ll transfer the money for your suit over.”
Shen Heyu was also getting off work, reaching for her car keys when she found the business card she had casually put in her pocket.
She had just noticed his message on the back of the card, something about her having vomited on him.
Actually being able to leave such a message, Shen Heyu felt… he probably wanted compensation.
After thinking it over, it seemed only right, so she made the call without hesitation.
After she said this, however, she heard the person on the line laugh and say, “Isn’t that a bit insincere? That suit of mine is from an international designer. Do you think just sending some money will settle it?”
Shen Heyu frowned upon hearing this. No matter the amount, she could afford it, but his tone sounded as though he was looking for trouble. She asked, “Then what do you propose?”
Shen Jiangli said, “How about this, you treat me to dinner. Forget about the money, and we’ll call it even.”
The strange man was using this as an excuse to have dinner with her, which seemed off to her.
For safety’s sake, she said, “Alright, I’ll choose the location.”
Shen Jiangli hung up the phone, surprised that she was still as easygoing as she was in junior high.
Shen Heyu chose a restaurant near her company. The area was bustling with people, so there was no need to worry about him doing anything.
She reserved a seat and sat waiting. It wasn’t long before the man arrived.
Shen Heyu looked at him. He was very tall, only slightly shorter than Pei Yansi, similarly well-built and dressed in a business suit, looking somewhat fierce and stern when not smiling.
No wonder she had mistaken him for Pei Yansi last night.
Shen Jiangli sat opposite her and smiled, “Hello, I am Shen Jiangli.”
Shen Heyu paused, uncertain why he was introducing himself, but she reciprocated out of courtesy and gave him her own name.
Shen Jiangli saw her expression and knew that she had forgotten him. He felt a bit downhearted but wasn’t eager to reveal his identity, simply saying, “Miss Shen, do you have a boyfriend?”
Shen Heyu frowned. She didn’t have a good impression of this man who barely knew her—didn’t even qualify as knowing her, frankly—asking about her romantic status right off the bat.
Her tone was rather unfriendly, “Mr. Shen, shall we order? I have other matters to attend to later.”
Shen Jiangli agreed and took the menu from the waiter, but while ordering, he continued to ask Shen Heyu, “If you don’t have a boyfriend, what are your criteria for choosing a partner?”
“In other words, what kind of man do you like?”
Shen Heyu, seeing him persist, bluntly replied, “I’m married.”
Shen Jiangli said “Ah,” taken aback for a moment, but quickly recovered and laughed, “You’re very humorous.” Of course, he didn’t believe she was married. What kind of married woman goes to a bar at midnight, drinks, and clings to another man asking him to take her home?
Shen Heyu didn’t care whether he believed her, but her dislike for this man had already reached a level where he was constantly prying into her privacy.
As for anything he said afterward, she simply ignored him.
Shen Jiangli, unable to help himself, finally said, “It seems you really don’t recognize me.”
