Shen Heyu hugged Gu Siyu, comforting him like one would a child, gently patting his back.
Just as she was about to say something, a cold voice came from behind, interrupting Shen Heyu’s thoughts. The voice sounded somewhat familiar.
Upon hearing the voice, Shen Heyu frowned and turned around, indeed seeing the cold, unapproachable face of Pei Yansi.
Pei Yansi saw Shen Heyu hugging Gu Siyu and, filled with anger, walked over. He grabbed Shen Heyu’s arm and tore her away from Gu Siyu’s body.
“Shen Heyu, I really underestimated you. To get me to give up on you, you staged a good show with Lu Yi. And now, what? Are you putting on a show for me to watch again?”
Shen Heyu frowned, the hand gripping her wrist was causing some pain. She forcefully shook off Pei Yansi’s hand, still frowning as she looked at his angry expression.
“Are you overthinking it? Thinking the whole world should revolve around you? I had no idea you were even here, much less that I was putting on a show for someone else to watch.”
Shen Heyu rubbed her reddening wrist, while Gu Siyu looked at it with concern. He stepped forward, positioning himself in front of Shen Heyu.
“Mr. Pei, it seems like your mental state isn’t very good. I have a friend who’s a neurologist. Want me to use the fast track to get you an appointment to check on your mental state?”
Gu Siyu was usually friendly with his patients, often showing a warm smile, but at that moment his expression was as cold as a layer of frost.
“What is your relationship with Shen Heyu?” Pei Yansi heard the mockery in his words but didn’t take it to heart; his main concern was still Shen Heyu.
Gu Siyu gave a cold smile, looking Pei Yansi in the eyes as he said word by word, “She’s my girlfriend now.”
That sentence pierced through Pei Yansi’s heart like a sharp sword.
Pei Yansi gasped in pain, drawing in a cold breath. He didn’t dare to believe it as he looked at Shen Heyu, but he couldn’t see any denial on her face.
“Is what he’s saying true? You just ended a farce of a marriage with Lu Yi, and so quickly you’ve started a new relationship with him. Have you considered Yuexue?”
Pei Yansi couldn’t believe that what Gu Siyu said was true. He turned to look at Shen Heyu, seeking confirmation from her.
“It’s true. Now you can completely give up. Just now, he gave me his house keys, and we have already established our relationship.”
Shen Heyu took out the set of keys Gu Siyu had given her from her purse and looked coldly at Pei Yansi.
Pei Yansi’s pupils shook violently as he reached out to touch Shen Heyu.
He said hoarsely to Shen Heyu, “If all you want is a house and a car, I can give you those. Please, don’t be with him, okay?”
“Mr. Pei, how many times must I remind you? Our relationship ended quite a while ago. Now, the right to make choices about my marriage and love life is in my hands alone, and you have no right to interfere.”
“I don’t believe that in the past three years, you’ve had no feelings for me. If you had no feelings, why would you have gone to such lengths to stage a drama with Lu Yi, just to make me lose hope?”
“That was because you kept pestering me, so I had no choice but to resort to such a tactic. Do you understand now? To get away from you, I’ve already made such a sacrifice. Can’t you just let me be?”
Shen Heyu slowly clenched the bunch of keys, the irregular shapes digging painfully into her palm, as if puncturing her skin and bringing a sobering sting to her brain.
Hearing Shen Heyu’s words, Pei Yansi chuckled self-deprecatingly, “If you went through so much just to get rid of me, you don’t have to try so hard in the future, can’t I just let you go?”
After saying this, Pei Yansi turned away in agony. Seeing his departing figure, Shen Heyu instinctively raised her hand, gripping the fabric over her heart tightly.
The fabric crumbled in her grasp, Shen Heyu’s figure trembling, nearly collapsing to the ground; fortunately, Gu Siyu was quick to steady her.
As soon as Gu Siyu made contact with Shen Heyu, she felt all her nerves tighten. She immediately stood up straight, uncomfortably breaking free from Gu Siyu’s support.
“I’m fine, I might have just been a little hypoglycemic just now.”
In fact, Shen Heyu didn’t need to lie because Gu Siyu saw everything clearly, yet he did not expose her.
He just said to Shen Heyu, “You’ve been under a lot of stress recently and need a good rest. Go back to my place and get some sleep, and after visiting Yuexue, I’ll take you to see that apartment.”
Shen Heyu didn’t speak, just silently nodded.
But when Shen Heyu lay alone on the big bed in the resting room, every time she closed her eyes, the image of Pei Yansi speaking would involuntarily surface in her mind.
The words Shen Heyu had just spoken seemed to truly stab into Pei Yansi’s heart, and he appeared exceedingly distressed.
Shen Heyu took a deep breath, turning over on the bed; yet the very words she used to hurt Pei Yansi were like a double-edged sword that also wounded her own heart.
She lay in bed for several hours, her mind filled with wild thoughts, until Gu Siyu finished his own work and came to take Shen Heyu to see his apartment.
Gu Siyu’s apartment was well-lit and clean, with all the necessary furniture in place.
After Shen Heyu looked around his apartment, Gu Siyu gave her a couple of reminders, “There’s another apartment near my house, and I will be staying nearby for now, very close to here. If you encounter any problems, feel free to call me.”
Shen Heyu nodded at Gu Siyu, it seemed as if he was really instructing his girlfriend.
“I’ve found a cook who will come over to prepare three meals a day, and the nutrition will be balanced. Remember to eat well, and then you won’t have low blood sugar incidents anymore.”
Shen Heyu nodded again, although the low blood sugar was just an excuse she had found earlier.
“Alright, do you need anything else? If there’s nothing more, I’ll leave you to rest. I won’t disturb you.”
Gu Siyu could see that Shen Heyu was feeling down and didn’t seem to want to talk much.
Shen Heyu lifted her head and looked at Gu Siyu’s face, struggling to speak. In the end, she could only utter words of gratitude.
At her words, Gu Siyu smiled, “Don’t be so formal. Haven’t you agreed to be my girlfriend for three days? It’s already late at night, so starting from tomorrow will be the first day.”
