2079 started on a good note and that brought much peace to Diamond, who knew how terrible it would be for them in less than a month.
After watching the fireworks display, Diamond, Ruby and Kian returned to the villa with smiles pasted on their face.
When they returned, the old couple weren’t sleeping but watching the New Year shows on TV.
After wishing everyone a happy new year, they all dispersed and went to their respective rooms.
It was a beautiful morning and Diamond was in no hurry to overwork herself, so she went to bed as soon as she was done refreshing.
There were a lot of things to be done at the beginning of the New Year the Perry family after suffering on Christmas day one week ago, were not planning on to go out at all.
Kian was a bit surprised by this, but he didn’t ask and just followed the trend.
While others would be busy dressing up and cooking up a storm, the Perry family were doing something else.
Kian, seeing what the four members were doing, couldn’t help but wonder what they were up to.
Diamond simply dragged everyone for a thorough cleaning on that day. So, they were quite busy from morning till late afternoon when Belinda started preparing a sumptuous feast for everyone.
It was a special meal again, as Kian would be leaving the next morning. So, it was more of a farewell feast.
Kian felt very warm as he listened to the elders constantly showing concern about him and how he should take care of himself well once he returned.
In the past few days, Kian had experienced so much love from his lover’s parents that he didn’t want to go.
However, there were more pressing matters that needed to be attended to. He didn’t dare delay otherwise, who knows how much loss he would suffer.
It wasn’t like Diamond would go somewhere he could reach.
That night, Diamond spent the night in Kian’s room however, unlike what most people would think, the two were innocent and didn’t dare act on their feelings.
The next morning, everyone in the family woke up very early.
Belinda prepared breakfast for everyone so that Kian wouldn’t feel isolated. After filling their stomachs, Kian left with Diamond, who would be sending him to the airport.
On the way to the airport, the two didn’t shut their mouths for a second as they were busy talking as if they wanted to compensate for the time. They wouldn’t be together.
Diamond reluctantly bade Kian goodbye and watched him enter the VIP hall before leaving finally.
In order to avoid trouble and prevent unnecessary attention, Diamond had a mask on her face, so it wasn’t that easy to see how she looked fully.
On her way back, Diamond made a call to Carl, her hard-working arm supervisor, who knew exactly what she needed without saying a word.
[Hello, lady boss!] Carl answered eagerly as soon as he picked up the call.
Diamond smiled amusedly as she heard Carl’s flattering tone on the other hand.
"How have you been, Carl?"
[I am doing well. Thank you for asking. Happy New Year, by the way, lady boss!]
"Thank you, Carl, and same to you too."
[Seeing that you have called, I guess that you have some instructions for me. What would you like for me to do?]
Diamond loved how perceptive Carl was.
"Have you managed to buy the grains I asked to buy last time?"
[Haha, don’t worry, lady boss. The procurement is going smoothly. Currently, I have managed to buy a ton but there is room for more.]
"That’s good news. When I come back, I will come and pick up all the grains. I have use for them."
[Okay. It’s not a problem.]
"Good then. I didn’t call you for this, but I want you to prepare all the remaining soil we haven’t started farming yet."
[This ..... lady boss, did you somehow get your hands on that miraculous fertilizer again?]
Diamond could hear the excitement from Carl as he asked that.
"Indeed, and I have gotten more than last time. And it will surely cover all the remaining land."
[Haha, this is very good. I will start right away. When are you returning?]
"I will stop by the farm on the 5th, make sure that everything should be done or at least half done by then."
[Don’t worry, lady boss. Just leave everything to me.]
"And prepare more grain seeds, vegetables, legumes, sweet potatoes and potatoes. We need to plant those and make sure that we have enough supply."
[I will write everything down.]
"That’s good then." Diamond was relieved to hear that Carl would take care of everything without any blunder.
After informing Carl what she wanted, she ended the call and concentrated on the road.
Unfortunately, it didn’t take long before she received a group call. Seeing who the others were, she could only helplessly pick up the phone and get entertained as she drove back to the villa.
When Diamond reached home, she didn’t go out again but rested in her room as she looked at her Ioniq account and checked how her account was faring.
Her fans were increasing by the day and after spending one hundred thousand on the 31st last time, her fans were now two million.
Although they had been attracted by money, seeing the figures made her very happy.
Later that evening, Diamond received a phone call, and it was from the security team that she had assigned to stay with her parents in Taco.
They had arrived in Taco and since she had forgotten about them earlier, she simply instructed them to hire two Ubers to bring them to the villa.
With the team secure in the Ubers, all she needed to do was wait for them.
While she did so, she went downstairs, where she saw her parents watching another program on TV.
"Um. You are done with your work?" Ruby puzzledly asked upon seeing Diamond who had vanished for a few hours.
Diamond knocked her sister’s head before sitting down smugly.
"Big sis!" Ruby sulkily complained as she looked at her shameless sister who loved bullying her at times.
Belinda looked at her daughter and helplessly shook her head.
