"Playing the whore yet pretending to be virtuous. I’ve never seen a whore claiming she’s innocent!" Gu En glared menacingly at He Zhilan and the others before storming off.
"Crazy! Weirdo! Psychopath!" Chen Xiting cursed angrily at the retreating figure of Gu En, his feet stomping in rage.
"Chen Xiting, let’s go have our meal. I refuse to believe that just because she posted this spiteful note in the dining hall, people in school would start accusing me, He Zhilan, of being that kind of person!" Although He Zhilan was furious, she figured Gu En must have skipped class to post that note at the dining hall where she was bound to see it during lunch, hoping to provoke her.
The most suitable word He Zhilan could think of for Gu En at this moment was ’boring’!
Looking at her, He Zhilan assumed that Gu En was likely throwing a fit because her plan to trick her into leaving with Lan Song last night didn’t work. And so, she posted that note in an attempt to ruin her reputation and drive her out of school, out of the capital.
The four of them simmered down after having a hearty lunch, cursing Gu En from head to toe on the way to and from the cafeteria. Huang Cai and Wang Bingbing, having burnt off their morning calories, found their meals especially delicious.
After their meal, the thought of seeing Gu En back at the dorm made Huang Cai and Wang Bingbing look as if they were going to a funeral. When they returned to find Gu En indeed there, they looked deeply aggrieved.
No one bothered to greet Gu En, who was lying in bed, entertaining herself with music. It seemed as if the person who was raging earlier wasn’t her. Changing her attitude so quickly, she could easily claim the title for the world’s best actress.
"He Zhilan, the guidance counselor wants you to go to the school office right away!" A voice called from outside, accompanying the sound of door knocking.
"Got it!" He Zhilan yelled back and quickly got up. She peeked out of the door suspiciously before stepping out and heading downstairs to where the guidance counselor was waiting.
The guidance counselor was a young man fresh out of college. But as He Zhilan rarely interacted with him, they were not familiar with each other. After exchanging greetings, He Zhilan asked why she was being summoned to the school office.
"It’s about the spite note," the guide counselor said, smiling at He Zhilan. "Don’t be nervous. The head of the office is not the type to jump to conclusions. If you explain everything to her, she won’t make life difficult for you."
"The spite note? The one at the entrance of the dining hall at lunchtime?" He Zhilan asked.
"We don’t know who posted the note, but it’s been plastered all over the school, at every door and even on the school’s public bulletin boards. They’ve all been taken down now. The office head called for you to understand the situation."
The counselor’s words hit He Zhilan like a thunderbolt, and she almost stumbled to the ground. "Everywhere?"
He Zhilan shook her head in disbelief, "Comparing myself with her, I realize I was too naive, thinking that only the note in front of the dining hall was the case."
"I heard that you had a disagreement with your roommate Gu En in front of the dining hall at noon. Judging by what you just said, do you know who posted the note?" the guidance counselor inquired, but then realizing it may not be within his authority, he paused to continue, "Although the office head may seem stern, she is fair. If you have evidence of who posted it, don’t hesitate to tell her. This is no small issue; it’s a matter of your personal reputation after all."
