The newspaper’s coverage of He Zhilan and Lanteng took up half of the page, mostly condemning He Zhilan. It accused her of being a gold-digger who divorced her ex-husband only half a year after their marriage to be with the flashy Lin Chan. It also sensationally reported about their public appearances at hotels and brought up her infamous reputation at Capital University. Direct quotes from interviews with university officials criticizing her were also included.
Beyond that, there were several photos of He Zhilan and Lin Chan standing very close to each other at the hotel entrance. One picture even showed them leaning in and talking quietly. The reporter suggested in the captions that their relationship was more than casual. It was also mentioned that many people had seen Lin picking up and dropping off He Zhilan at the train station.
