He Dongxue oh-ed in confusion, pointing at He Zhilan’s head, and asked after a pause, "Is there something wrong with her head?"
"Off you go, this is my brain." He Zhilan chuckled, pushing away He Dongxue’s hand on her forehead, "As for hers, how would I know? I’m not a doctor. Shouldn’t you be the one to ask? You are the future doctor."
"I don’t have x-ray vision to see if her brain has any issues." He Dongxue grumbled. Hearing a knock at the door, she said, "It must be big brother this time! Go get it!"
After He Zhilan opened the door, it turned out to be He Teng, who was holding two kettles of hot water in his hands. He glanced at both He Zhilan and He Dongxue, "Where are the smiles coming from?"
"Not laughing at you. We were just laughing at Gu En’s mental condition." Zhilan quickly explained and took the kettles from He Teng, "Is the performance over?"
"No." He Teng put his hands back in his pockets after handing off the kettle, "Now it’s Tang something’s turn to perform, many people have left."
The two girls inside burst into laughter, "Those little soldiers are so cute, Tang Tang must be furious, right?"
"She performs for the troops as part of the art troupe. It’s up to the little soldiers whether to watch or not. Even if everyone leaves, she still needs to continue." Zhilan laughed, "But, I bet she’ll leave out of frustration, and I bet we won’t see her in the army tomorrow."
"Mind your own business and rest early." He Teng looked at the window and reminded, "Make sure you close the window before sleeping. It’s chilly at night. You don’t want to catch a cold."
Both of them readily nodded, but they still wanted to enjoy the snow for a while longer. Thus, after He Teng left, both girls spent a considerable amount of time watching the snow by the window. By the time He Teng came to bring them out the next morning, they were both sneezing and had red noses.
He Teng was a bit exasperated, shaking his head. He knew Dongxue was excited because she had never seen snow before, but why was Zhilan excited along with Dongxue as well? He had specifically warned them, but looking at their state, he knew they must’ve been watching the snow while chatting in bed with the window open.
"Gu En and Tang left with the Art Troupe early this morning," He Teng said before noticing their lackluster appearances, "Finish your breakfast. I’ll take you to get some cold medicine from the military doctor."
"As long as you don’t give injections~" Zhilan muttered and nodded, and dragged Dongxue to the cafeteria following He Teng.
The base, without Tang Tang and Gu En, felt refreshingly quiet to them, even the snowflakes looked prettier. The food tasted great, and everyone they met seemed incredibly handsome.
Since Zhilan and Dongxue were both unwell, He Teng didn’t let Zhilan continue training in the cold. The two of them were allowed to stay in the guesthouse to rest for the day. Therefore, during the day, Zhilan remained with Chen Ya’nan and Dongxue.
They initially had assumed that the New Year’s Day would pass merrily in the army, but to their surprise, something major happened the morning of the third day.
The soldier responsible for grocery shopping brought back the capital’s Economic Newspaper. The content printed on it stirred quite a disturbance within the base.
