He Teng found it amusing. He didn’t worry about He Zhilan and Lin Chan being together. Lin Chan didn’t have romantic feelings for Zhilan, and Zhilan treated Lin Chan like a brother.
Moreover, he and Zhilan were divorced. If Zhilan chose to be with Lin Chan, it might not be a bad thing. At least in He Teng’s eyes, Lin Chan was protective of Zhilan. He Teng couldn’t look after Zhilan while he was in the military, but Lin Chan could take good care of her.
But the fact was, He Teng could clearly see that Zhilan didn’t have the slightest interest in Lin Chan. Instead, she was still contemplating reconciliation with him.
Because of Tang Tang’s earlier disruption, neither Zhilan nor Dongxue wanted to attend the New Year’s Eve party. Hiding out in the hotel, they were having a breath-holding competition out of boredom when Gu En came looking for them. Hearing a knock at the door, Dongxue thought it was He Teng and eagerly ran to answer it with a big grin.
"Why is it you?" Upon opening the door and seeing Gu En, Dongxue rolled her eyes.
"What’s with the eye roll, country girl?" Gu En was pissed off at Dongxue’s gesture. She pushed Dongxue, but Dongxue dodged.
"Gu En, do you want to start a fight by pushing my sister? I slapped Tang Tang in public today. If you dare bully Dongxue, I’m not afraid to beat you down in front of the whole regiment!" Zhilan walked out, catching Gu En’s action. Her eyes grew icy, "I want to see whether people would blame you or us sisters!"
"Self-righteous bitch. Everyone knows what Zhilan is really like. Others might be foolish enough to believe there’s nothing between you and Lin Chan, but I don’t," Gu En sneered, "I’m here to warn you to tell Jiang Biyun to stay away from my Lin Deng. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless! Tell her, Lin Deng is mine! A lowly person like her dreaming of marrying into the Lin Family is utterly delusional. Lin Deng is just playing with her out of pity. Does she really believe that Lin Deng is head over heels for her?"
"Lin Deng is his own person, not a dog on your leash that follows wherever you direct. He Zhilan seemed in no way willing to relay this message. After saying so, she shut the door on Gu En without giving her a second glance.
But she did feel a bit concerned. It looked like Gu En was aware that Lin Deng and Jiang Biyun were now dating. After all, Gu En had been at the Normal University for almost a semester and hadn’t been focusing on bothering her, naturally she had more time to notice Lin Deng and Jiang Biyun’s business.
