“Hmph!” Zhao’s father portrayed a vicious expression.
The brothers had to go back to the County to find a way to save Jianshe and also ruin Han Qingsong’s reputation at the same time by suing him. They were going to render him as an uneducated, vulgar, unsentimental and unsophisticated idiot.
This incident provided a lot of convenience for Han Qingsong to handle matters later on. Everyone knew his personality by then— either he didn’t beat around the bush or he was just an idiot who they thought might be able to be taken advantage of.
Han Qingsong didn’t take the incident seriously at all as he continued to do what he had to do.
Someone from the Supply and Marketing Cooperative came to deliver a letter to him, informing them that their boss had returned and had invited him over.
Han Qingsong went all the way to the Supply and Marketing Cooperative.
The Commune was not big and the units were basically next to each other, so he could get there after a short walk.
Director Qian was in his early fifties. He had grey hair, a handsome appearance and a clear look in his eyes.
They greeted each other and introduced themselves with short sentences. After listening to Han Qingsong’s intention, Director Qian smiled and said, “Director Han, to tell you the truth, our Commune only has one brick factory and there is a huge shortage of bricks and tiles. The County’s requests are all sent here and there are also those from our Commune’s high-ranked officials. The ones that want to sign up and join the waiting line have to wait at least 3 years.”
Even if ordinary members could not afford bricks and tiles, there were still people who could.
Hence, they were all scheduled to get the products in three or four years.
There truly seemed to be a shortage in supplies.
Han Qingsong thought that he might not be able to get it anytime soon even if he joined the line. Or, he could find a way to make them himself. In this case, he would have to buy firewood and coal, but he would still have to apply from the Supply and Marketing Cooperative.
Even so, Director Qian was the one who said that it wouldn’t be easy to buy bricks at the moment, but he also added, “Don’t worry, let me look over the list.”
He opened a drawer and inside were piles of lists, all of which were applications for bricks and other building materials.
Director Qian took out the stash and flipped through the papers. After a while, he happily said, “I found it.”
“I took a batch of them a while ago, but since I’m not in a hurry, I’ll take them out for the Director Han first,” Director Qian said as he pulled out three lists and showed them to Han Qingsong, “I don’t know about the size of the house you are planning to build, but are these enough?”
Han Qingsong took a look and saw that there were almost 20,000 bricks, a little less than 4,000 tiles, three carts of quicklime and some silica sand.
This was quite surprising!
Even if the members themselves applied to line up, they would only have three to five thousand bricks approved, and that would be considered a good haul.
Han Qingsong let out a small smile, “That’s sufficient. Thank you Director for your help.”
Director Qian smiled and said, “This is nothing, we all should support each other.”
The bricks here were not entirely red bricks as there were some blue bricks; the tiles were all grey-black tiles, but there were some tube tiles as well.
Han Qingsong didn’t mind as long as there were bricks and tiles.
