Lin Lan was sewing the clothes at home when three women approached her together.
One of them had a longer face. She had a smile plastered on her face and was the Han Qingsong’s uncle’s wife. Surnamed Zang, she was an aunt that used to keep Lin Lan at a distance.
The other two women were also wives of Han Qingsong’s extended family. They used to joke about Lin Lan and tease her a lot, but now, they were envious of the fact that her husband was this capable. Since Lin Lan had a reliable and powerful husband, they wanted to try and share some of the limelight by being her friend.
To be honest, there weren’t many who remained uninvolved when it came to gossip about Lin Lan while the original owner was alive.
Lin Lan didn’t intend to even be polite.
“Dawang’s mother, are you sewing some winter clothes? Why didn’t you ask us to do it together? Let’s sew together and help each other— we’ll get it done quick and easy.”
The other women also agreed, “Yes, our eldest sister-in-law can do needlework very well.”
“Oh, are you going to sew a cotton jacket? This piece of cloth is so bright!” Sister-in-law Zang said while touching the three-colour plaid cloth that Lin Lan had bought.
Lin Lan, don’t be so pretentious. It’s just an ordinary piece of cloth and not a floral cloth made by the Commune. How surprising could this be?
It was also a difficult task for the three women to praise an ordinary jacquard cloth while complimenting Lin Lan’s needlework.
The youngest sister-in-law, with a smile on her apple-shaped face, had eyes that were curved and playful. Her name was Li Pingguo (Li Apple).
She touched the quilt beside her and praised, “Look at my sister-in-law, her craftsmanship and the stitches are so neat.”
Lin Lan, “…that was sewn by Dawang’s father.”
Li Pingguo was immediately embarrassed and she hurriedly praised, “Well, the cotton outfits sewn by my sister-in-law are also really good— it’s a lot better than ours.”
She stretched out the cotton pants that Lin Lan had sewed for Dawang, revealing the large crooked stitches inside.
Sister-in-law Zang glared at Li Pingguo and the woman looked like she was about to cry. She didn’t expect her flattering words to turn out this way.
Lin Lan remained indifferent. After all, she had encountered hurricanes and waves of trouble before, so what was this compared to those?
“Sisters-in-law, how are you all so free today?”
“What else would it be besides us wanting to come and do some needlework with you?” Sister-in-law Zang said with a smile, “If you have some sewing tasks that you need to do in the future, don’t do it yourself and let us know.”
Li Pingguo immediately said, “Sister-in-law, let me take over this jacket, I will sew it for you. This plaid pattern is really nice and I think you’ll look good in it, so let me sew it for you.”
Lin Lan, “…This is for Maisui.”
A little girl’s jacket was the same size as an adult’s?
“Haha, sister-in-law, it’s my bad. I thought it was yours.”
Lin Lan didn’t try to embarrass her further, “I was worried that she would grow up really fast, so I purposely made hers a little bigger.”
Sister-in-law Zang said, “Your second sister-in-law can make shoes. Do you want to make some shoes? We can let her make them for you.”
Second sister-in-law Cao didn’t say much all this time, but after hearing this, she smiled at Lin Lan, “It’s getting cold, so making warm shoes is a must in winter. I planned to make some myself, so I’ll make two pairs for you at the same time.”
Lin Lan smiled and said, “Thank you so much.”
