Han Qingsong kissed her, “You rest up, I’ll go now.”
Lin Lan tidied up at home. After 8 o’clock, Han Qingsong led the children back.
As soon as they entered the door, the children’s laughter could be heard. They were about to run to the kang, but Lin Lan shouted for them to wash their faces and feet.
Dawang wanted to wash in cold water in the yard, but Lin Lan called out to stop him, “There is hot water in the pot, don’t use cold water.”
The weather was getting colder and Lin Lan didn’t allow the boys to take cold showers so as not to get sick.
Sanwang wanted to run away, but Han Qingsong grabbed his ear and threw him towards Lin Lan. Sanwang seemed to have rolled in the mud all day long— his head and face were covered in mud and his whole body was filthy. Although he liked swimming, he didn’t like bathing.
Lin Lan stripped him naked in a second and made him stand in the clay basin. She laughed at him, “Where did this muddy monkey come from? How dirty!”
Sanwang was ticklish, so he giggled out loud. Lin Lan let him wash up by himself as she and she helped Xiaowang.
Although Xiaowang was well-behaved, he often had dog hair all over his body.
She sat on a small bench to help Xiaowang and Sanwang take a bath whilst Han Qingsong scooped up some water silently and looked at his wife quietly. She had a slender waist, a round behind, spoke softly and the expression on her face was extremely gentle. It made him feel a surge of heat spread all over but he was unable to move his eyes away.
At Lin Lan’s request and while he watched her, he poured the ladle of water on Sanwang and helped him clean up.
Sanwang screamed from being rubbed by Han Qingsong. It hurt so much as his father’s large hands were painful if he exerted a strong force. Even whilst helping him bathe, his father remained ruthless.
Lin Lan smiled and said, “Who told you to be so dirty? If we can’t wash it with water, we’d have to use your father’s invincible hands to wash it. Most people don’t have a chance to experience this.”
After washing the children and drying them off, she asked Han Qingsong to carry Sanwang onto the kang.
Xiaowang watched his Third Brother swing around in his father’s arms, full of envy.
Lin Lan hurriedly finished washing him. Patting his backside, she also asked Han Qingsong to carry him up.
Han Qingsong lifted Xiaowang up as he giggled and kicked his little feet, having a good time.
Xiaowang whispered softly, “Father…the west room.”
He wanted to sleep in the west room, where his mother was.
Han Qingsong did not refuse him as he carried him directly to the quilt on the other side of the kang.
Lin Lan was also relieved to see that Xiaowang was no longer too afraid of Han Qingsong. Although he was strict, it was an irrefutable truth that he was good to children.
Xiaowang got into the bed obediently, “Mom, night night,” before he glanced at Han Qingsong, “Father, night night,” This was the first time he took the initiative to say good night to Han Qingsong.
Lin Lan came over and kissed his forehead, “Sleep soundly, baby.”
Xiaowang happily closed his eyes. With a smile on his lips, he soon fell asleep.
Lin Lan saw that this was the first time he wasn’t holding the torn handkerchief in his arms. She smiled softly at Han Qingsong, “Xiaowang is starting to like you a little.”
Previously, Xiaowang was always wary and afraid of Han Qingsong, going as far as to not be alone with his father. Today was the first time he requested anything from Han Qingsong.
