Lin Lan was stunned by their small talks, audibly forced in order to fill in the odd atmosphere.

“Then off you go. We’ll sit for a while longer, but come home earlier to make us a meal,” Eldest Aunt Han waved her hand and interrupted Lin Lan as if she was her mother-in-law. She knew that Lin Lan was trying to get them to leave instead of actually having matters to handle. But even if she did have something important, what sort of trivial matter could be more important than having the eldest sister-in-law visit your home?
The Eldest Aunt added in a natural tone, “Didn’t you guys just distribute the meat recently? You haven’t finished it, right? What a great timing then— make us a good meal. After that, I still have a few things to discuss with you.”
She went to get the thermos flask and also took the tea mugs and bowls to pour some water for them to drink. She even muttered that her Third Brother was the Director of the Bureau, so there should have been tea ready-made at home.
She wanted to show off her ability in front of Sun Yaowu.
The Eldest Aunt didn’t care much about his ability to work in the County. If he were to get married with Jinyu in the future and wanted to curry favour with Han Qingsong, he still had to respect her as she was older than him in age and hierarchy.
This was also the self-confidence she had built up for herself after having a son of her own and her younger brother as the Director.

Her younger brother was the Director, so she placed herself high on the food chain as she identified as his elder sister, going as far as to thinking that she had more reason to flaunt her position than the Director himself.
If her mother-in-law hadn’t been pushing her down and creating a fuss, she would have basked in her glory long ago.
Now, in front of Sun Yaowu, she naturally wanted to trample over Lin Lan to show off her prestige.
But she didn’t take into account her variable factors, which was Lin Lan herself. She was not a piece of wood, so why would she let the Eldest Aunt step on her for no reason?
Lin Lan rushed over, snatched the thermos and tea mug with her hands before she said bluntly, “Okay, you guys hurry up and leave; I’m going to lock the door.”

When Sun Yaowu heard this, he immediately stood up, but Han Jinyu tugged onto him for him to sit down again.
Eldest Aunt Han froze for a moment, as if she didn’t expect Lin Lan to turn against her in front of a guest, “Sister-in-law, what are you saying?”
Lin Lan sneered, “So I’m the problem, aren’t I?” She wanted to act like a big shot here? If her actual mother-in-law was able to leave from being pissed, what was she?
With Lin Lan’s cold gaze directed towards her, Eldest Aunt Han felt as if she was trampled over all of a sudden. In a flash, she switched into a personality that implied she wanted to have a good talk with Lin Lan in a calm manner.
