Lin Lan tasted it and nodded repeatedly, “Yes, the meat is fat and tender. Plus, it is also soft yet flavourful from the salt— this is delicious.”
Everyone laughed and smiled.
Erwang was also very happy. His mother could always say good comments about his cooking and never restricted her praise to the two word ‘delicious’ only.
In order to make up for the unresponsive eldest son that she had painstakingly flattered, Lin Lan praised the cooking skills of her second son severely.
“Now, your skills are better than your mother’s cooking. In the future, your parents will work harder to earn work points. And in the future, I will bring home large prawns, crab meat, beef, mutton and duck for our dear chef to cook with.”
Erwang smiled and said, “Perhaps it was because my mother was a good teacher.”
I enjoy back-and-forth praises the most.

X Island was a seaport, which also meant that the seafood was plentiful and cheap. However, the means of transportation were inconvenient. At most, they probably only ever tried clams.
Satisfied, Sanwang patted his chest, “Why do we need to buy them? Don’t you have me here? I’ll help you fish them all out of the sea.”
There was a kind of clam in the local river called lala. If it was not cooked well, it would end up being fishy and sandy, but if it was prepped well and nicely cooked, it was delicious.
Because it was easier to catch than it was to fish, the children were willing to spend more time catching it.
Lin Lan flicked his forehead, “Stop going into the water casually, it’s dangerous.”
Sanwang immediately picked out some fish for his mother, “I won’t. I’ll listen to you, mother.”
But looking at his expression, Lin Lan knew that it was strange of him to listen to her own words. If she believed him right now, it would basically be equivalent to believing that the weather would warm up.
In addition to the fish, there was also Lin Lan’s braised pork, which was ruddy in colour. It was fat but not greasy, notable with how the skin of the meat was soft and elastic when biting into it. It was sweet and delicious, which was a great dish.
This was cooked by Lin Lan using the method of her hometown as there was no local method of braising pork. Generally, it was stewed in soy sauce without adding sugar.
“Well, the braised pork is delicious, have you eaten it?”
“I ate it and it’s delicious. If it weren’t for Eldest Brother taking care of it, Sanwang would be able to finish this pot,” Maisui said happily.
Sanwang liked to eat meat so much, but he didn’t get to have a single bite of the food when there was a table full of meat and fish during the Chinese New Year.
Hence, he wasn’t too satisfied.
Lin Lan asked Erwang to bring a bottle of wine, “When your father comes back, let him have a drink.”
When Sanwang saw that there was wine, his eyeballs lit up.
