Occasionally, he would keep getting red dates or sugared ones, but he just couldn’t seem to get one with money.
He was anxious, “Mother, how much of the dumplings have money in them?”
Lin Lan smiled and said, “There are nine of each item.”
Han Qingsong picked up a dumpling and put it in his mouth, pulling out a coin with one try.
Lin Lan smiled and said, “Director Han is so lucky to be able to earn money with the first bite.”
She stretched out her hand and Han Qingsong put the coin in her hand.
After a while, Dawang felt something hard in his mouth and took out a coin. Everyone immediately congratulated him.
Erwang took a look and picked one dumpling up from the tray with chopsticks, “Haha, this one has money in it too.”
He bit it and sure enough, there was a hard one-cent coin.
Maisui also learned his trick and immediately looked for the shrivelled dumplings that probably had money in them.
Sanwang also started to learn, but all he got were dates and brown sugar fillings, never money. This made him rather anxious.
His stomach was also pretty full.
Xiaowang was learning how to use chopsticks properly. He was afraid of dropping them, so he clamped the dumplings carefully. However, in doing so, he accidentally squeezed it too hard and a cent fell out from it.
“Wow, Xiaowang is getting rich,” Maisui saw it and quickly reminded him.
Xiaowang happily took out the coin and gave it to Sanwang, “Here you go.”
“You’ve all gotten one, but I haven’t,” He was a little frustrated, but his stomach couldn’t hold extra food anymore.
Lin Lan prodded him, “Little Third Brother, I haven’t eaten one either.”
Sanwang glanced at her and said, “But your man, your son and your daughter have all gotten one. Would you not end up rich as well once they did?”
Maisui said, “Don’t worry, if I have money, you have money. If I make money, I will give you some pocket money.”
Sanwang immediately stretched out his hand to hook his fingers in a pinky promise with her, “You shouldn’t lie to children. The more you do it, the uglier you’re going to get.”
Maisui, I just tried to coax you and yet, here you are trapping me,” She stretched out her hand to hook his own, “I’m not going to lie to you.”
Sanwang immediately got excited, picked up a dumpling with his chopsticks before placing it into Maisui’s bowl, “Elder Sister, there’s definitely money in this one.”
Maisui touched her belly, “Why don’t you eat it yourself?”
“I can’t hold anymore food, can I? I ate more than you just now,” His waistband was untied, revealing his bulging belly.
Lin Lan lightly tapped his stomach, “Wow.”
Han Qingsong picked one dumpling and put it in Sanwang’s bowl.
Sanwang’s eyes lit up, “Father, I’m really done.”
Han Qingsong, “Try it.”
Sanwang believed his father, so he picked it up and ate it before a loud clack of his teeth resonated. He laughed happily, “Sure enough, I’m rich. Brother Sanwang is rich from now on, wang wang wang(1)!”
