The humongous body of the Tier-5 Corrupted Worm Beast was seen by everyone. Most of the Beast Tamers were frozen in place.
It took a second for them to comprehend.
"It's a Tier-5 Corrupted Beast," finally, someone shouted.
"Someone, call the City Guards!"
The cry for help was heard. Everyone was frantically running to find a safe place.
The Tier-5 Worm Beast reacted. It detected the scent of its main prey. Seeing that prey was slipping away, the Worm Beast went underground again to chase.
Its movement caused tremors. The ground surface began to shake. Those nearby who were fleeing fumbled and struggled to maintain their balance.
Jeremy was able to reach the City Gate. Before he could speak, the city guards saw the massive worm beast terrorizing everyone in front of the city gate.
The City Guards didn't even bother with checking. They immediately went to inform their captain.
Jeremy saw the rush of people, so he entered the city through the gate. He doubted whether the Tier-5 Worm Beast could travel underground to reach the inner part of the city.
He was sure that the City Guard Captain would take care of the beast, so he decided to leave the area. If he stayed around, it would attract unwanted attention because he was a Tier-1 Beast Tamer.
The flying taxi arrived. He entered and asked the driver to go to the university.
The driver was shaken up by the commotion as well. He immediately started the vehicle, and the car was flying toward the destination a minute later.
"Why are people shouting?" the driver asked.
Hearing that, Jeremy felt troubled. He didn't want to say anything right away; otherwise, he didn't know what the driver would do in shock.
"I'll tell you once you drop me at the university," Jeremy replied.
The driver was stunned. Then he understood. He knew that customer safety came first, so he began to focus on driving.
The Tier-5 Worm Beast encountered an obstruction. There was a massive concrete foundation beneath the city wall. The beast was having a hard time penetrating it.
The worm beast moved once again. Its massive body slammed into the concrete foundation, but nothing happened. The concrete foundation remained intact.
If something happened to the concrete foundation, then the city wall structure could collapse. The people who built the structures had considered the situation.
They didn't want any underground-type corrupted beasts to infiltrate their cities.
Several City Guard teams were alerted. The City Guard Captains stationed in all four directions received the news.
The thick-browed middle-aged man made an appearance. He was at the gate when he heard the cries of the people. The other captains were on their way as well.
He appeared outside. He was a Tier-5 Beast Tamer. When he learned that the beast had gone underground, his expression changed drastically.
He immediately informed the three City Governors. It's not easy to go several meters underground to fight against the corrupted beasts.
One must have an underground-type lifeline beast for that. During the Beast Invasion, the City Governor had faced the same problem as well.
Unless the beast comes back to the surface, they can't attack it.
The thick-browed middle-aged man thought of something before arriving at the city wall. He pressed his hand against the wall and began to feel vibrations from time to time.
His expression turned ugly.
"The worm beast is attacking the structure," he said to himself.
Then he immediately warned the city guards. He ordered them to help people evacuate their property near the City Gate.
He also ordered another team to enter the wilderness and warn the Beast Tamers not to approach the city gate unless the Tier-5 Beast was caught and killed.
In the blink of an eye, the whole area became deserted.
The people who were coming toward the City Gate were stopped, and those who were inside the city were not allowed near the City Gate.
It didn't take long for the three City Governors to learn the news. When they heard it was an underground worm beast, their expressions changed drastically.
If it were the open vast wilderness, they could use a wide range of options to force the beast to reappear on the surface.
But they couldn't take aggressive actions here. If they attacked the area, it would impact the city as well.
Among them, Governor Elton decided to kill the beast. He was a Tier-7 Beast Tamer. He could have asked the Tier-6 Beast Tamers to handle it, but he didn't want to take any risks.
Already, their reputation was damaged because of the beast invasion events. So he wouldn't wait and watch for good things to happen.
He left his office after asking the other two City Governors to take care of other matters.
When he appeared in the sky, he immediately brought out his lifeline beast.
A giant bird appeared in the sky. The giant bird was Oldman Elton's lifeline beast. He then stood on the back of the bird and told it to reach the City Gate.
The giant bird swiftly flew in the air to reach the City Gate. The people on the ground, whether on their balconies or in the streets, raised their heads and saw the giant bird in the sky.
They immediately recognized that it was the lifeline beast of their City Governor Elton.
The public began to panic. The Governor wouldn't bring out their lifeline beast unless something serious had happened.
Because the breath of their high-tier lifeline beasts could cause problems for the city, the City Governors wouldn't take them out in public, especially not in the middle of the city.
The bird's cry was not only heard by them but also by the major forces. Everyone was shocked and taken aback.
The Beast Taming Association noticed it immediately because they were receiving rescue calls from their members.
