A hexagonal Energy Shield surrounded him, making the blond youth appear like a human terminal embedded within a massive weapon.
Gongsun Ce straightened his hat and squinted his eyes. The blond youth had already displayed several techniques, including flame jets, lightning strikes, and plasma cannons. The shield even specialized in defending against energy attacks. He seemed to have prepared thoroughly against Telekinesis, refusing to engage closely and constantly changing positions in the air to avoid the restraints of telekinetic power.
“So cautious, top student, am I that fearsome?”
“Super fearsome! I’m no match for a devil.” Ed frankly admitted, “But even if I have to sacrifice all this equipment, I’m going to leave a mark on you! Watch out, mental interference waves!”
In an instant, Gongsun Ce disappeared from the electric pole, his rapidly moving body creating gusts of wind as he charged toward Ed and kicked!
The hexagonal shield suddenly turned blue, and Ed, gritting his teeth, shouted, “Vector reflective armor!”
Yet another new ability; this time, Ed had directly reversed the direction of his attack! Gongsun Ce was flung away by the force of his own kick, but he didn’t care and fiercely grabbed at the air. Half of Ed’s arsenal was crushed instantly with tremendous force, and his right wrist turned into pulp. The blond youth’s hair was stained with his own blood, and he screamed in excruciating pain, “Ah…! Damn you… Kawai!!”
Gongsun Ce turned in midair, and a plain-looking youth from Zero Island appeared from the alleyway. It was Kawai Yoshizo, the Chief of the Light Core Organization. His hands bled continuously, the blood merging into the ground and walls, forming a series of blood-colored grids that took up a three-hundred-meter eerie space within breaths.
Gongsun Ce was pulled towards Kawai Yoshizo by a strange force, the youth looking frail from excessive blood loss, yet his eyes sparkled with an excited smile.
“You’ve got nowhere to run, devil! This is my Chessboard of Death. In this place, you can’t attack anyone until the chess game ends—”
Gongsun Ce clenched his fist with one hand and slammed it on the ground.
Ripple-like tremors emerged from beneath his fist, an unparalleled force permeating the earth and shaking the entire street block! Suddenly, the ground cracked open, buildings shuddered, spikes jutted out, and sand flew around. Everyone and everything seemed hazy in the earthquake, with countless afterimages shaking in the field of view!
The earth truly split; with just one punch, he had triggered a local earthquake!
All of Kawai Yoshizo’s blood returned to his body, his superpower failed to activate. When the ground that served as the foundation itself had been shattered by immense force, where could his chessboard be drawn?
Gongsun Ce walked past the youth from Zero Island, casually smashing a punch into his chest.
“Not bad, remember to use it somewhere more stable next time.”
That was the last thing Kawai Yoshizo heard before falling unconscious.
Gongsun Ce retracted his right fist and continued toward his destination. Not far ahead was the central district, where the severely injured Ed stood in his way, his smile bleak.
“I gambled half my life to lure you into a trap and you broke the entire street with one punch? You’re joking, right? Weren’t you this powerful before?” Ed sighed repeatedly, “I’ve analyzed all your recorded battles from these past three years. Before the fight ends, could you satisfy my curiosity, have you been holding back all along?”
“I didn’t need to exert much effort with my elder brother around,” Gongsun Ce replied, evading the question, “and did Aorus ever tell you, the worse my mood is, the stronger I am?”
“Oh my God, you call this emotional fluctuation…”
“Thanks for your leader’s speech,” Gongsun Ce said with a smile, “My mood is pretty awful tonight.”
As Ed closed his eyes, activating his power, the Energy Shield powered up to its full strength, and the fully charged plasma cannon in his palm fired, carving a path of destruction in a deep blue hue!
Gongsun Ce raised his cloak, turned his body sideways, and a stone raised by the earthquake happened to fall right in front of his fingertip, propelled towards Ed’s other set of armaments by Telekinesis!
In this quick and decisive matchup, akin to a duel between gunslingers in the Wild West, victory and defeat were determined in half a second. The plasma barely missed the devil’s cloak while the stone completely destroyed Ed’s arsenal. The explosion’s shockwave knocked the young doctor to the ground, Ed staring at the devil’s toes in despair.
“Really impressive… My ability is to turn the power of my self-developed devices to my own use, you even guessed that.”
“Great ability, smart too,” the devil commented from above, “You just don’t fight enough.”
Ed grabbed the last handgun, and before he could pull the trigger, he was overwhelmed by power and dazed. But suddenly, Gongsun Ce’s body flashed to the side, his side bleeding profusely!
A bullet grazed by, tearing away a palm-sized piece of flesh. If Gongsun Ce’s reaction had been a fraction slower, he would have been completely hit by this attack.
For the first time in tonight’s battle, the devil was genuinely injured. It wasn’t attack from Ed who had already lost consciousness. This was a ruthless, malicious, merciless, fierce, and powerful sneak attack from someone else!
