"My goodness, is he really that powerful?"
After a brief silence, Lin Feifei’s voice shattered the quiet. She quickly walked up to Long Chen and glanced at the lifeless tiger, her heart filled with shock as she showered him with praise. Long Chen, however, remained perfectly calm, as if nothing had happened at all.
Dong Xuan nodded in satisfaction. "Long Chen, you truly are impressive."
Lin Feifei turned to look at Wei Lin. "Senior Brother, did you see that? This is the real deal, not the ’backdoor dealings’ you were talking about."
Hearing this, Wei Lin’s face darkened instantly. He had thought he could use this opportunity to embarrass Long Chen and make him suffer. He never expected this would be the result. Not only had Long Chen avoided embarrassment, but he had even managed to put on a grand display of power right in front of them. Moreover, it seemed Lin Feifei had grown even fonder of him.
This made him burn with anger and resentment, so much so that he nearly ground his molars to dust!
But in front of Lin Feifei, he struggled to maintain his composure, forcing a smile. "It was just a fluke. That tiger wasn’t much of a threat anyway. The only reason I let him handle it was to test his strength. It seems he does have some skill after all."
At this, Wei Lin paused, his gaze landing on Long Chen as he said dismissively, "But still, you only have a bit of strength. It’s far from enough to survive in the Sacred Ruins Forbidden Land. You’d better be careful. If some accident befalls you, no one will be able to save you."
Wei Lin’s voice sounded calm, but it was heavy with threat. In his eyes, the boy had managed to kill a tiger at the War Sect Realm Eighth Layer with a single punch. This meant his Cultivation was likely only around the Ninth Layer of the War Sect Realm. For someone like him, who had reached the War King Realm Third Level, there was simply no comparison. Defeating Long Chen would be as easy as lifting a finger.
"You needn’t bother yourself with my affairs," Long Chen replied indifferently, continuing forward.
Lin Feifei immediately followed, continuing her praise. "I never expected the power in your punch to be so immense. I doubt I’d even be a match for you. How about we find some time to spar?"
"We’ll see," Long Chen replied noncommittally.
Watching the two of them walking so closely together, Wei Lin fumed. He clenched his fists until they cracked and said darkly, "Boy, just you wait!"
The disciple Long Chen had saved ran up to him and said gratefully, "Thank you for stepping in to help!"
"It was nothing," Long Chen replied lightly.
Seeing Long Chen’s easygoing and principled demeanor, the disciples of Guiyuan Academy instantly formed a good impression of him.
The group from Guiyuan Academy continued on their way.
"Something’s not right," Long Chen stopped in his tracks, suddenly warning the other disciples.
"What’s the matter?" Lin Feifei turned and asked.
"It’s been too quiet," Long Chen said softly.
Hearing this, Lin Feifei nodded thoughtfully. "It does seem that way."
Wei Lin, however, was full of disdain. He scoffed, "Coward. Only you would be so paranoid. Of course, it’s been quiet with me here protecting everyone. The beasts don’t even dare to approach. They sense my powerful aura from a distance and turn away. What’s so surprising about that?"
The moment his voice fell, a sharp hook shot out from the distance!
The faces of the Guiyuan Academy disciples paled at the sight, and they quickly retreated. Luckily, Wei Lin reacted swiftly. The instant he sensed danger, he spun around and struck out fiercely with his palm! He managed to block the sharp hook just in time, escaping unharmed. Otherwise, he would have likely been killed on the spot!
"What is that?" Wei Lin frowned.
Following the attack, a giant poison scorpion appeared. Its sharp stinger gleamed with a cold light as its sinister eyes locked onto the group from Guiyuan Academy.
