An Hao was taken aback as she watched Feng Chunhua leap onto Yang Dahe with such ferocity, scratching and clawing; she seemed to have lost her mind.
"Oh dear! Are you saying you can no longer live this life?" Zhang Guifang was startled and hurried forward to intervene.
Feng Chunhua’s crazy strength was frightening; with one arm, she flung Zhang Guifang to the ground.
Yang Erxiu stood at the door, watching the scene unfold, too scared to move; she crouched at the door, her wide eyes fixed on the adult’s battle.
Yang Dahe, driven to desperation by Feng Chunhua’s scratching, grabbed her arm and twisted it hard behind her; the pain made Feng Chunhua wail like a slaughtered pig, "Good for you, Yang Dahe! Still protecting that little vixen!"
An Hao watched from the sidelines, her palms clenched tightly.
Seeing this scene, she felt both angry and sorry for Yang Chunhua.
The door was wide open.
In no time, a crowd gathered, all craning their necks to watch the commotion.
Yang Chunhua’s mouth was dirty, cursing incessantly, "An Hao, you little vixen, just look at what you’re wearing, showing off your big white legs. Your husband isn’t home! Can’t you endure it? You brought our Yang Dahe into your fox den!"
"What nonsense are you spouting!" Yang Dahe couldn’t bear to listen any longer and roared, "What a filthy heart you have! The brother Qin wasn’t home, and An Hao developed a high fever; she was delirious and nearly lost her life. I was just bringing her back from the clinic where she got an injection!"
"You’re deceiving ghosts!" Yang Chunhua pointed at An Hao’s soaked-through sweaty clothes and said, "Look at her, looking all flirty. Surely she must have rolled in bed..."
Before she could finish her sentence, An Hao sprang up and slapped her across the face.
The force was substantial! As the slap landed, a red mark flared on her face!
"An Hao, you! How dare you hit me!" Feng Chunhua leapt up to retaliate against An Hao, but Zhang Guifang and Yang Dahe held her firmly in place.
An Hao’s gaze fixed on Feng Chunhua’s face as she said in a serious tone, "Sister-in-law! This slap is not for anything else but to wake you up! Your words are too vile, and you never think before you speak, always causing trouble. I’ve been tolerating you for more than just a day or two."
An Hao’s words left the onlookers at the door exchanging glances with each other.
"Feng Chunhua! Calling you sister-in-law, I feel it insults the word itself. To you, Yang Dahe is your heaven, your earth, but to me, he is just a colleague of Qin Jian. You can choose not to believe me, but do you believe your husband whom you don’t trust?"
"I don’t believe it! If he was decent, he wouldn’t run to your house when your husband isn’t at home. Do you think I’m stupid? What life-threatening fever? Why couldn’t others help you, and only he could?" Feng Chunhua was convinced there was something illicit between them.
"Fine then, tell me, what about your husband do you think caught my eye?" An Hao’s piercing gaze landed on Feng Chunhua’s face, "Is he young? Is he outstandingly handsome? Or does he have a promising future? If you’re talking about these things, you all can judge for yourselves. Qin Jian lacks nothing in these regards!"
"Our Dahe has a very good relationship with the Commander. The Commander is especially fond of him, and with the leaders’ favor, can a promotion for my husband be far behind?" Feng Chunhua was convinced that An Hao was a woman of loose morals; otherwise, why would such a young woman marry Qin Jian?
No matter how handsome Qin Jian was, he was still over thirty, and if not for the fact that he was a soldier, an officer, why would An Hao fancy him?
"If that’s what you believe, I have even less reason to fancy your old Yang!" An Hao narrowed her eyes and uttered softly, "Qin Jian is the son of the Northern Military Region’s Commander!"
