Chapter 34: Chapter 34 I Really Want a Childhood Sweetheart Too
“Zhaozhao, what’s wrong with you?”
As soon as Shen Zhaozhao entered the classroom, Sang Youyou held her face and looked from side to side.
“Don’t even mention it, I had a cup of milk tea at midnight last night and couldn’t sleep.” Shen Zhaozhao was listless, like a sapling ravaged by stormy weather.
Sang Youyou sympathetically let go of her.
Shen Zhaozhao yawned and then, groggy, returned the Olympic Mathematics textbook she had borrowed from Sheng Chuyi the night before.
“You finished it all?” Sheng Chuyi looked at her somewhat surprised.
Olympic Mathematics wasn’t like other literature books that could be understood with just one read; one needed to thoroughly grasp the content.
Shen Zhaozhao nodded, pointing at her dark circles, “See? These are the proof of my overnight ordeal.”
The Olympic Mathematics material was dull, and naturally, she couldn’t possibly study in depth and do a thorough analysis, so she just roughly went through the example problems and their solving approaches once.
Anyway, she felt she had finished it.
Sheng Chuyi glanced at her dark circles and said, “Wasn’t that caused by your midnight milk tea and insomnia?”
Doesn’t this guy know what it means not to add insult to injury?
“Anyway, I’ve returned the stuff to you.” Shen Zhaozhao turned away huffily.
Sheng Chuyi wasn’t sure what he had done to upset her again, but seeing her angry, he said, “I have some more Olympic Mathematics materials at my place, do you want them?”
“Yes!” Although she disliked studying, Olympic Mathematics seemed somewhat interesting.
It was more interesting than other subjects!
To avoid embarrassing her dad, she thought she might delve into it a bit more.
“I’ll bring them tonight.”
“I’m so jealous of you two,” Sang Youyou whispered, resting her chin on her hands and looking at them with a face ready to ship the couple.
“Jealous of what?” Shen Zhaozhao looked at her puzzled.
“I wish I had a childhood friend too.” Sang Youyou cradled her face, her eyes twinkling with envy.
Shen Zhaozhao: “What the heck?”
“Just like you and your Sheng Chuyi!”
Sang Youyou excitedly grabbed her hand and said, “The two of you are just like the childhood sweethearts in books! Always eating together, going to school together, growing up together. It’s always only been you by my side since childhood, it sounds so perfectly adorable!”
“Have you been reading some weird books again lately?” A trace of exasperation crossed Shen Zhaozhao’s face, “Also, don’t talk nonsense, he’s not from my family.”
“Aren’t you his little wife?”
Sang Youyou grinned mischievously, “I’ve found so many good novels on TikTok recently, and I think you two are just like the protagonists in those novels.”
Shen Zhaozhao’s face flushed, “What little wife, certainly not, don’t talk nonsense.”
Sang Youyou: “Why not? Didn’t you two even have a toy marriage when you were kids?”
Before she could finish speaking, Shen Zhaozhao covered her mouth.
Struggling to pry Shen Zhaozhao’s hand away from her mouth, Sang Youyou spit out the last word, “Kiss.”
Shen Zhaozhao hastily made hand signals, “Weren’t we agreed not to mention that? Those were just playful words from adults when we were kids. I was young and naïve then and took it seriously.”
“Then do you like him?” Sang Youyou whispered in her ear.
Shen Zhaozhao: “Of course not, he only knows how to study and put me down, I wouldn’t like him.”
“But everyone is so envious of you, you’re the only girl who can stay so close to Sheng Chuyi.”
