“He only has a bad temper with me because I’m the only one who can put up with it!” Shen Zhaozhao pouted, considering that someone has always been icy and distant since childhood.
Sang Youyou: “I think you’re boasting in disguise.”

Soon, the end of the term arrived.

“My mom said she’s taking me to the beach this summer vacation.”

“I’m going to my grandma’s house in the countryside for the summer vacation. It’s so fun there!”
“You all are so weak. My parents said they’re taking me abroad to ski this year!”
“Wow, really? Is there snow abroad during the summer?”
“You’re so clueless, the climate abroad isn’t the same as here. We’re in the northern hemisphere, while many countries are in the southern hemisphere, with the exact opposite climate to ours. It’s winter there now, so of course there’s snow.”
Everyone was chattering away, discussing where they wanted to go for their summer vacation.
Sang Youyou looked at Shen Zhaozhao and said, “Zhaozhao, have your parents said where they’re taking you for the summer vacation?”
Shen Zhaozhao: “My parents said I can choose any place I want.”
“Really? Your uncle and aunt are so good to you!” Sang Youyou said enviously, “My parents are both really busy with work this year, I guess I’ll just have to stay at home alone.”
But Shen Zhaozhao couldn’t get excited about it.
“It’s not that good.” she said, “They said that only if I get into the Olympic Mathematics training camp.”
Daddy Zhaozhao’s exact words were that as long as she got into the Olympic Mathematics training camp, she could call the shots for this summer vacation. She could go anywhere she wanted, as a reward for getting into the camp.
But if she really made it into the camp, she would still have to take a month of classes.
Trading a month for a few days of vacation didn’t seem worthwhile at all.
“Don’t worry, you’ll definitely make it in,” Sang Youyou comforted her.
Shen Zhaozhao wasn’t comforted at all.
The thought of others being on holiday while she still had to attend classes made the whole world seem dark.
Life was just too unpleasant!
