"An’an, I can’t run anymore, I can’t do it, let’s go back!" my deskmate clung desperately to the post at the bridge, refusing to run any further.
"You barely ran half a lap!" Sheng Ning’an jogged back to her side, looking at her deskmate panting heavily like a dying dog, speechless. So much for exercising.
My deskmate whined, "Everything should be done step by step. Look, I ran half a lap tonight, that’s pretty impressive already. If I keep it up for a few days, maybe I could run a whole lap."
Sheng Ning’an handed her the drink they had bought earlier, even unscrewing the cap for her in case she didn’t have the strength to open it.
"Thanks! You’re the best!"
She took the drink and guzzled it down "clank clank clank—" until the suffocating feeling in her chest subsided, then looked up at her admiringly and asked, "An’an, how can you be so fit?"
Sheng Ning’an replied, "If you run two laps along the riverbank every night, you’ll be as fit as I am."
"How much? Two laps? Might as well kill me." My deskmate moaned out loud.
This girl was overestimating her; she couldn’t even last half a lap, but expected to run two.
Sheng Ning’an said, "Don’t you want to lose weight? I guarantee that if you can stick with it for a month, you’ll definitely slim down."
My deskmate whined, "I thought controlling my eating was hard enough, but moving my legs is even harder." Are there no more ways for a fat person to live?
In fact, Sheng Ning’an thought she wasn’t that bad, not terribly fat, just a little chubby.
She had flesh where it should be, looking plump overall.
If she were a boy, she’d probably like a figure like hers.
Actually it’s okay not to diet.
But since the girls in class were all after the skinny beauty look, she was following the trend and wanted to slim down.
Sheng Ning’an felt there was no harm in exercising more, so she’d come out with her at night. Who knew this girl had such poor stamina, she couldn’t even keep going for half a lap.
"Let’s go. I’ll walk you home." It was completely dark now, and Sheng Ning’an was worried about her walking home alone and scared.
"No need, I can go by myself. You should head back early too!" My deskmate didn’t have the heart to let her walk her back, they were both girls, and she wasn’t that fragile.

If she were a bad guy, she’d definitely choose her over herself.

This girl was less worried about herself and more concerned for her. Sheng Ning’an said, "Come on, with your stamina, you couldn’t even outrun a bad guy if one showed up. Better let me escort you."
Remembering how she had taken down a guy over six feet tall, my deskmate conceded that she probably didn’t need her to worry.
"Then I’ll bring you breakfast tomorrow!" My deskmate chirped merrily, hooking her arm through hers.
"Hey, keep your distance!" Sheng Ning’an said disdainfully.
She’d just hugged a post and now she was hugging her, how dirty.
My deskmate clung to her without letting go, "Oh come on, we’re going to take a shower when we get home anyway. Let’s go."
Sheng Ning’an glared at her with full on disdain, but ultimately didn’t push her away, letting herself be dragged forward.
