Seeing her blushing face, Xu Weiran smiled and asked, "What’s wrong?"
He knew exactly what he was doing.
Sheng Ning’an glared at him and said, "Dinner is over; you should go back now."
"Is my girlfriend getting angry out of embarrassment?" Xu Weiran’s dark eyes twinkled with mirth, and his voice was low and teasing. The words "my girlfriend" emanated from him held a flirtiness that surpassed many special terms of endearment between lovers.
Sheng Ning’an found herself a bit overwhelmed.
"Alright, I shouldn’t have teased you; I thought..."
Sheng Ning’an: "Nothing..." She thought all researchers were like her Young Uncle, rigid and serious, not knowing how to romance, forgetting that this man was not like her Young Uncle.
It was a miscalculation on her part!
Xu Weiran escorted her back to her dorm.
"I’m going up first!" Sheng Ning’an said and then headed towards the dorm building.
"Wait!" Xu Weiran caught her.
"What is it?" Sheng Ning’an turned around.
The next second, she saw the man in front of her suddenly lean forward, his handsome face enlarging before her eyes.
The two were very close, close enough to hear each other’s breathing.
Sheng Ning’an instinctively wanted to step back, but Xu Weiran grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, saying, "Someone just mentioned that I could have kisses and hugs from my girlfriend. I wonder if I can have them now?"
He was already hugging her, yet still asking if he could?
Sheng Ning’an cleared her throat and said, "It’s okay, but..."
Before she could finish, his breath suddenly drew near, and her words disappeared between the collision of lips.
Sheng Ning’an’s mind went blank for a moment, as if she had lost all ability to think.
Luckily, Xu Weiran was gentle and brief, touching her lightly before quickly letting her go.
Xu Weiran’s eyes were filled with tender affection, his nose gently rubbing against Sheng Ning’an’s as he murmured, "You’re right, my girlfriend, simply being together isn’t enough. Once two people get close, they only want more."
Sheng Ning’an came back to her senses, opened her mouth to say something, but in the end, couldn’t get a word out. Instead, with a blushing face, she pushed him away, saying, "I’m going up first. You should head back too, be careful on your way."
"Okay!" Xu Weiran watched her walk into the dorm, waiting until he couldn’t see her anymore before turning to leave.
Sheng Ning’an walked into the dorm with light, floating steps, her mind filled with the memory of that kiss.
As she opened the door, she bumped right into Tian Yu who was just about to leave.
The latter looked at her face and asked, "An’an, are you sick?"
Sheng Ning’an blinked and replied, "No, not at all!"
"Then why is your face so red?" Tian Yu stared suspiciously at her face and reached out to touch her forehead.
"Weird, you’re not hot!"
Sheng Ning’an touched her own face, suddenly realizing something, coughed awkwardly, and said, "It’s nothing, maybe I rushed up the stairs a bit too quickly."
"That makes sense, we live on the fourth floor, and everyday we have to climb dozens more steps than others, even fetching a delivery is more exhausting," Tian Yu didn’t doubt her words at all.
"Hehe, right!" Sheng Ning’an laughed awkwardly, just hoping to quickly change the subject.
