Because she hadn’t slept well last night, she ended up sleeping until evening, then was woken up by the doorbell.
Qin Muni reached for the tablet on the bedside table, turned on the monitor, and saw Xu Yisen standing outside the door.
She switched off airplane mode on her phone and called Xu Yisen.
On the tablet screen, Xu Yisen took out his phone from his suit pants pocket, and when he saw the incoming call, a gentle smile spread across his thin lips.
He slid his hand over the phone screen and answered the call, "Hey, Munni." His voice was rich and smooth, exceptionally pleasing.
"Mm, is there anything you need?"
On the other end, Qin Muni’s voice came through, sounding dreamy and carrying a hint of sensual laziness.
Her voice, like feathers, lightly brushed against his heart, making him raise his eyebrows amusedly, "Weren’t you the one who called me?"
"I meant you’re standing at my door, is there something up?"
Xu Yisen finally realized, he slightly raised his head and flashed a dazzling smile at the camera, holding the phone in one hand while waving enthusiastically at the camera with the other.
His silly smile and actions made Qin Muni stifle a laugh, a gentle curve forming at her red lips.
Xu Yisen put down his hand, still smiling at the camera, and instead of answering Qin Muni’s question, he warmly asked her, "Have you eaten?"
"Come down and open the door; I’ll cook."
Qin Muni paused, seemingly hesitating, and after a few seconds, she finally asked, "What are you planning to make?"
"Tomato meat sauce pasta."
As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Muni was heard rustling the bedcovers on the call, "I’ll come and open the door now."
Her response made Xu Yisen lightly smile as he continued, "How about roasted stuffed Italian mushrooms for starters?"
Qin Muni replied while heading downstairs, "Sure, there are mushrooms at home."
"There’s some French crème brûlée I baked yesterday in the fridge."
Xu Yisen held his phone, listening to the footsteps coming from the other end; a few seconds later, the tightly closed door in front of him was opened, revealing a familiar little face.
He hung up his phone, seeing Qin Muni inviting him inside, "Come on in."
Her warm invitation made Xu Yisen unable to resist teasing her, "It’s rare for you to so enthusiastically invite me in; you must really be hungry."
Qin Muni turned back into the living room, her back to Xu Yisen, and cheekily replied, "Yes, yes, Chef Xu, you’ve come at just the right time."
Xu Yisen took off his suit jacket and placed it on the living room sofa, and casually removed his tie, unbuttoning the top two buttons of his white shirt.
As he rolled up his shirt sleeves, he laughed and responded, "I must serve Boss Qin well; when I make it big, I’m counting on you to support me."
Qin Muni nodded arrogantly, "Hmm, we’ll see how you do."
Xu Yisen chuckled softly, "Wait a bit, I’ll call you when dinner’s ready."
"Mm, go busy yourself."
While Xu Yisen was busy in the kitchen, Qin Muni sat on the living room sofa holding the remote, flipping through channels.
However, after going through all the channels, she couldn’t find any TV shows or programs that interested her, so she resignedly set down the remote and headed to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Xu Yisen, wearing an apron, placed the baking tray in the oven, set the temperature and time, then turned around to slice the washed tomatoes into chunks on the countertop.
