As soon as he said this, the manager followed the subordinate’s nervous gaze all the way to the front door.
There, he could see a young woman standing right by the entrance. He couldn’t really see her with her overly large hat and her equally large mask. However, with the aura emanating around her, he could tell she wasn’t just some ordinary passerby.
She held the phone in her hand, looking as if she were on a call.
“I don’t care who she is,” the manager snapped. “Don’t you know that Director Xu is currently meeting with a guest? He doesn��t have time to meet with this young girl! Why would you allow her to come over like this?”
“But she said something about an urgent matter she needed to discuss. She even knows Director Xu’s office. What if it’s really an urgent matter?”
“There’s nothing more urgent than his guest! Are you crazy?”
With a frustrated sigh, the manager was about to turn away and head inside when the girl stepped forward. She walked toward them, looking as if she wasn’t going away unless spoken to.
“You’re searching for Director Xu?”
“I’ve already arrived at the airport.” Yao Tang was speaking to her phone the minute she had stepped forward. From the moment she had come out of the clubhouse, she still didn’t end the call.
“Yes,” she then replied to the manager.
“Well, Director Xu is extremely busy right now.” The manager motioned to the private room. “You have to wait. I’d suggest you’d schedule an appointment—”
“Yao Tang, have you already boarded the plane?” An echo from her phone cut them off. “I’ll be waiting at the terminal, okay?”
“I’ll be heading there. Don’t worry,” she interrupted.
As soon as the manager heard their conversation, he furrowed his eyebrows in disbelief and confusion. “You’re about to board the plane and you spent the next few minutes wasting your time with us?” he snapped. “If you’re late, you wouldn’t be able to board.”
After saying this, he instructed his subordinate, “Look at her boarding pass and take her to whichever gate she’s supposed to go. Try your best to get her on the plane as soon as possible. If you can’t make it in time, don’t blame it on us.”
Even then, Yao Tang made no other movements.
“Aren’t you afraid you wouldn’t be able to make it to the plane?” he demanded.
“Is Captain Xu inside?”
The manager froze.
The current director had only taken up the post a few years ago. The manager, honestly, didn’t know anything much about Director Xu, except for his surname.
Yet, he was already in charge of all the important matters regarding the airport.
The manager had ridiculed his boss in the past, believing that Director Xu was in here to take advantage of his position. After a while, he’d soon leave.
