Uncle Tian smashed against the wall with so much force that it shook against his weight.
The man himself felt faint from the impact.
It was as if his bones had already shattered inside his body. He could taste blood on his tongue, and his vision was swirling.
It took him a long while to pull himself together. When he finally did, he found that the two female bodyguards were already upon him.
They unleashed another barrage of kicks on him.
One of them landed on his chest, causing him to spew out a mouthful of blood.
Uncle Tian’s subordinates quaked at the sight of their leader being beaten so badly. They began to panic.
“Uncle Tian!”
“Uncle Tian!”
They cried and wailed, wanting to rush over and help the man. Unfortunately, they were still firmly tied up.
Never mind saving someone else, they couldn’t even save themselves.
Yao Ran was beyond flustered as the scene unfolded before her. She had never experienced something so harrowing in all her life.
There were puddles of blood all around, and some had even gotten on her clothes. The air, too, was filled with the disgusting, metallic smell.
She had fully expected Uncle Tianto be capable of taking downYao Tangand the others.
Only now did she realize how naive she was. Not only had she grossly underestimated Yao Tang, butYao Ranwas also terribly unprepared for this development.
Thanks to her growing fear, she could barely even stand up. Her knees were shaking, and her legs felt like jelly.
Yao Ran had no idea what would happen at the end of the day.
After a while, she noticed that Yao Tangand her allies were focused solely onUncle Tian.Yao Rangrabbed the opportunity and quietly fled upstairs.
Unfortunately, she hadn’t gone far when she was discovered by one of the guards. The woman picked Yao Ranup effortlessly with one hand.
Then, she tossed the girl aside and ignored her, like she was nothing more than a pebble that got in the way.
Yao Ran screamed as she flew into an arc and landed on the ground. Her delicate skin scraped against the rough, uneven concrete, prompting fat tears to roll down her cheeks.
Uncle Tian was outraged to see his mistress’ sorry state.
He took out a pill from his shirt pocket and hurled it in Yao Tang’s direction.
She reached out and caught it in the palm of her hand. Other than that, she didn’t appear to be bothered by it at all.
Uncle Tian, on the other hand, grinned in triumph. Unbeknownst to everyone, it was no ordinary pill. It was something that was left behind by that person. It had poisonous properties that could harm someone through a simple touch, and could cause their death if an antidote was not administered within fifteen minutes.
Uncle Tian was cunning enough to bring gloves with him at all times, and he had slipped them on just before handling the pill. He was confident that he wouldn’t be affected by its toxins.
“Little Girl,” he called out mockingly. “You have touched the pill and are now poisoned. I suggest you let us go, or you will surely die in a matter of minutes.”
“You can choose not to believe my words, of course, but you’d better be prepared to deal with the consequences!”
A few feet away, Nie Yunfroze atUncle Tian’s words. His face drained of color as he turned toYao Tang. “Miss, quickly! Throw that thing away!”
The world was vast and mysterious. These days, it wasn’t so hard to believe that something so ludicrous existed.
Nie Yun couldn’t afford to take the risk, especially when the Young Miss’ safety was on the line. He didn’t dare to let his guard down.
Thankfully, Yao Tanglistened to him and threw the pill away. Her expression was still cool as a cucumber, though.
Still, Nie Yunallowed himself a sigh of relief. He glared atUncle Tian. “I’m warning you. If you try to do anything to the Young Miss, you will pay the price with your life. Stop playing tricks and tell me the truth! Was it really poison?”
Uncle Tian sneered, but was otherwise calm. “Since you don’t believe me, then you can just wait and see whether I’m telling the truth or not. When the time comes, you shall see it for yourself.”
He had faith in those pills. That young lady had left them, after all.
Uncle Tian had been reluctant to use them at first, but desperate times called for desperate measures, as the saying went.
Furious, Nie Yun strode over and stamped his foot on Uncle Tian’s chest. “Hurry and tell me where the antidote is! Hand it over!”
Uncle Tian stared up at him as a taunting smile slowly crept on his lips.
“I can give you what you want, but you must promise to let Miss Yao Rango. If you so much as touch a hair in her head, then your precious Young Miss will definitely die today!”
Both Qin JingandNie Yunwere livid, but there was nothing they could do. There was no way of telling whether the pill really was poison or not.
What they did know for sure was that they didn’t want to risk Yao Tang’s life.
