Ye Wanwan saw a part on Shen Yi’s left knee that had turned a dark bruise, which had just become obvious from the fall and would definitely become even more apparent later.
Ye Wanwan sighed, feeling somewhat helpless.
Shen Yi looked at Ye Wanwan, still somewhat unclear, his voice hoarse and questioning with confusion, "What’s wrong with me? Do I have a fever?"
Ye Wanwan also keenly detected something off from Shen Yi’s reaction and asked tentatively, "Don’t you remember what happened last night?"
Confusion still lingered in Shen Yi’s eyes, and he stared at Ye Wanwan for a long while without speaking, as if trying hard to remember, before finally saying, "I seem to have forgotten."
He vaguely remembered that many things had happened, but the more he tried to recall, the more he realized he couldn’t remember anything.
Ye Wanwan frowned slightly, "You had a high fever close to forty degrees last night, don’t you remember that?"
Shen Yi shook his head, "I don’t remember."
The memories were too blurry, completely unrecallable, not even a high fever left any impression on him.
"After you woke up, when I wanted to find the butler, you grabbed me and wouldn’t let me leave, no matter what. Don’t you remember that?" Ye Wanwan asked again.
Shen Yi still shook his head, "I don’t remember."
Ye Wanwan’s brow furrowed, unable to understand what exactly had happened. Were last night’s events merely unconscious actions from Shen Yi?
Seeing Ye Wanwan frowning, Shen Yi asked, "Did something happen?"
Ye Wanwan looked at Shen Yi and without thinking denied it, "No, just wondering how you woke up and don’t have any memory of it."
Although she didn’t know what was really going on, Ye Wanwan didn’t want Shen Yi to remember things from his previous life.
If Shen Yi did remember, she didn’t know how she would face him; she always felt it would be very strange.
Without waiting for Shen Yi to explain, Ye Wanwan found an excuse for him, "Maybe the fever made you delirious."
As she spoke, Ye Wanwan reached out to feel Shen Yi’s forehead, "No fever now, but you should still take some medicine later, just to prevent it from coming back."
After Shen Yi had passed out last night, he had only been given an injection and hadn’t taken any medicine, which the doctor had prescribed for him.
Shen Yi watched Ye Wanwan’s practiced motion of checking for fever and saw her clearly unrested face; he felt a twinge of heartache, "You had a tough night."
"We’re husband and wife; it’s only right that I take care of you," Ye Wanwan stated nonchalantly, and then added, "But next time, you need to be more careful—wear more layers when it’s cold, and don’t foolishly get caught in the rain again."
"Okay." Shen Yi watched Ye Wanwan, her caring words ringing in his ears, inexplicably feeling contented.
It seemed as if that was enough.
Now that he was awake, Ye Wanwan, fighting back drowsiness, washed up and went downstairs with Shen Yi for breakfast.
After breakfast and making sure Shen Yi took his medicine, Ye Wanwan yawned, her eyes reddening, her voice slurred, "I’m so sleepy, I need to go up and sleep a bit more."
"Hmm, go ahead." Shen Yi touched her hair, feeling an urge to kiss her, but remembering he had just recovered from his fever, he held back.
"Don’t go to the office today; stay at home and rest." He had had a severe fever last night, and Ye Wanwan was worried that if Shen Yi didn’t get enough rest, the fever might recur.
