"Alright, I won’t go," Shen Yi nodded in agreement.
Both of them went upstairs together, with Ye Wanwan heading back to her bedroom to catch up on sleep, while Shen Yi went to the study.
But after sitting down at his desk, Shen Yi didn’t start working right away; instead, he just sat there, lost in thought.
He couldn’t remember anything that happened after he had fallen asleep the night before, not even his own fever.
However, there was one thing he did remember, that upon waking up in the morning, his subconscious believed that Ye Wanwan was gone!
This wasn’t the first time he had felt that Ye Wanwan was dead; he had dreamed of it before when Wanwan was no longer there.
Shen Yi couldn’t understand why he had such terrifying and inexplicable thoughts.
Wanwan was fine, so how could she just be gone?
Shen Yi took a deep breath and reflected on his abnormal state over this period of time.
He was easily anxious and restless; he couldn’t help worrying whenever he couldn’t see Ye Wanwan, especially after she had been injured repeatedly, which pushed his irritability to a critical point.
However, as soon as he saw Ye Wanwan safe and sound in front of him, his agitated heart would instantly be soothed.
Sometimes he even felt greatly relieved, as if as long as Ye Wanwan was alive and well, everything was good.
Shen Yi had never believed in deities, but this time he wavered; he couldn’t help but wonder if those dreams and unexplained concerns were premonitions of the future?
Was it a message from heaven, to tell him that Wanwan was in danger and that he needed to protect her well?
Shen Yi’s brow furrowed slightly; if Wanwan was in danger, what kind of danger would it be?
A physical ailment perhaps?
Shen Yi recalled when she had suddenly fainted before, without any warning, but the hospital’s check-up results said everything was normal.
Ye Wanwan’s diet, ever since she was little, had always been regular and healthy, so she didn’t even have common minor issues like nutritional imbalances or stomach problems.
Her health was robust.
Could it be human factors?
Thinking of this, Shen Yi could only think of one person, and that was He Qingyun, the woman who seemed to suddenly have started targeting Wanwan, using the pretext of her liking him.
But after meeting He Qingyun, Shen Yi was very certain that He Qingyun didn’t like him, and there was no issue of her harming Wanwan because of him.
So why did she suddenly act this way?
There had to be a reason, he just didn’t know it yet!
There was also the possibility of an accident.
But accidents are unpredictable, nobody could say for sure!
Shen Yi was again agitated, and in his fretfulness, he began to have a headache—the idea of hiding Ye Wanwan away crossed his mind.
To hide her away, to protect her well, so that no one would be able to harm her!
But that was obviously unrealistic.
Shen Yi leaned back in his chair, his expression serious.
Within a couple of days, Ye Wanwan noticed that besides Uncle Zhang, who took her to and from places, there was an additional car following her whenever she went out.
Ye Wanwan, quite puzzled, asked Shen Yi, "Why are so many people following me?"
"There’s something off about He Qingyun, though I don’t yet know what it is. Just to be safe," Shen Yi explained.
This was the only solution Shen Yi could think of; he couldn’t keep Ye Wanwan at home every day, so he had to arrange for someone to be around her instead.
Ye Wanwan resignedly said, "Isn’t this a bit too extravagant?"
"Safety first," Shen Yi didn’t care about anything else, only wanting to ensure Ye Wanwan’s safety.
