At that moment, Shen Yi stood at the door of the break room with a stern expression, watching Fang Xian, who was seated on the couch inside.
Their eyes met, and the smile on Fang Xian’s face stiffened slightly, but she quickly regained her composure and offered Shen Yi a professional, businesslike smile.
Fang Xian stood up and gave a slight bow, "Mr. Shen."
Only then did Shen Yi step into the break room, his brow furrowed and his displeasure barely concealed.
"What have you done to my wife!" Shen Yi demanded coldly, getting straight to the point.
Wanwan was still waiting for him in the office, and he didn’t have much time to waste in a pointless exchange with Fang Xian; he simply laid it all out.
"What?" Fang Xian was somewhat stunned, not expecting such a question from Shen Yi and unsure of what he meant.
What had she done to Mrs. Shen?
Fang Xian was utterly confused. How could she not know what she had supposedly done to Mrs. Shen?
Shen Yi’s impatience was even more apparent as he repeated, "What have you done to my wife!"
Wanwan was so afraid of this woman, there must have been a reason, otherwise, why would Wanwan be afraid of her?
It dawned on Fang Xian after a delay; Mrs. Shen had fled upon seeing her, and now Mr. Shen was questioning her in such a tone, perhaps Mrs. Shen had said something to Mr. Shen.
"Heh," Fang Xian couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter, not expecting Mrs. Shen to have some "skills" after all, able to get a man to stand up for her.
Fang Xian shrugged her shoulders with an innocent look, "I haven’t done anything to Mrs. Shen."
Pausing for a few seconds, Fang Xian continued, "I just came to deliver documents to Mr. Shen. I did run into Mrs. Shen outside, but we didn’t exchange a single word, and then Mrs. Shen returned to Mr. Shen’s office."
After explaining, Fang Xian retorted, "And it all happened out there, in front of everyone, what could I possibly do to Mrs. Shen?"
Shen Yi’s brow was deeply knitted, and he found himself at a loss for words to Fang Xian’s bold assertion.
On the other hand, Fang Xian, with a mocking tone, said, "Hasn’t Mr. Shen ever considered that Mrs. Shen might be wildly jealous and therefore spouting nonsense in front of Mr. Shen?"
By now, Fang Xian was certain that Mrs. Shen must have said something to Mr. Shen to make him believe she had mistreated his wife.
And the reason Mrs. Shen did so might be because she had heard some rumors in the company and became jealous.
What a useless, spoiled little lady, not even daring to confront her directly when jealous, but preferring to act weak in front of a man, letting someone else take the stage.
In Fang Xian’s mind, Mrs. Shen was increasingly unworthy of Mr. Shen.
Shen Yi’s brows remained tightly furrowed, and he was silent for a long while until finally, he extended his hand toward Fang Xian and said in a deep voice, "The documents."
Fang Xian was somewhat unable to keep up with Shen Yi’s pace. Weren’t they discussing Mrs. Shen’s matter? Why did it suddenly shift here?
But Fang Xian quickly came to her senses, turned around, and picked up a folder from the couch.
Fang Xian handed the folder to Shen Yi, "Mr. Dewen said..."
As soon as Fang Xian began to speak, Shen Yi, who had taken the folder, turned and walked out without any intention of listening to her.
Fang Xian was taken aback, her complexion turning from green to white, the arrogance she had felt moments ago gone, leaving only the shame of being disregarded by Shen Yi.
She bit down hard on her teeth, striving not to lose more composure.
