Ye Wanwan was thinking this, yet as seconds ticked by, the call remained unanswered and the panic at the bottom of Ye Wanwan’s heart grew more severe.
Clenching the phone in her hand, Ye Wanwan couldn’t help but grip it tighter as her eyes stayed fixed on the large tree outside the window, battered by the wind and rain.
At the familiar voice, Ye Wanwan snapped back to reality, her fingers unintentionally loosening their hold, but she still paused, unable to quickly respond to the other person.
Not until Shen Yi called out "Wanwan" again did Ye Wanwan fully come to her senses and ask the Shen Yi on the line, "Shen Yi, where are you now?"
Before Shen Yi could speak, Ye Wanwan continued, "It’s raining heavily outside, such a heavy rain."
In her words was a panic that Ye Wanwan hadn’t even noticed herself.
She actually wasn’t afraid of rain and thunder, but because she died on a rainy day in her past life, Ye Wanwan had some aversion to such rainy days.
Today’s concern, however, was because of Shen Yi. The rain outside was too heavy, and it always gave off a bad feeling.
And the few seconds of silence from Shen Yi after Ye Wanwan finished speaking made her all the more restless.
"Shen Yi..." Ye Wanwan couldn’t help calling his name again.
Shen Yi finally responded from the other end of the phone, "Wanwan, I might not be able to come back tonight."
"What happened to you?" Ye Wanwan asked quickly, pressing for an answer.
"Wanwan, don’t worry! I’m fine, it’s just that the rain is too heavy, the river has overflowed the bridge, and it’s been flooded, so I can’t get across," Shen Yi hurriedly explained.
"Where did you go? Which bridge is flooded?" With a bit of annoyance in her heart, Ye Wanwan’s tone carried a hint of interrogation.

Shen Yi, eager to prove to Ye Wanwan that he was indeed safe, hung up the phone without hearing her reply and sent her a video call through WeChat.
When Ye Wanwan received the video call, she raised her hand to wipe the tears from the corner of her eyes before quickly answering.
As the video connected, Ye Wanwan saw the scene on Shen Yi’s side. He appeared to be in a car, and through the rain-obscured windows, it was hard to see clearly.
"Look, I’m safe right now." Shen Yi held the phone a bit farther away so that Ye Wanwan could see his situation.
Ye Wanwan sniffled and asked, "But where exactly are you? What now? Are you just going to stay in the car?"
"I’m at Yunling Mountain. Have you been here before? To ascend the mountain, you have to cross a bridge. That place is too low, so it got flooded quickly after the downpour started, and that’s why I can’t get across now."
Ye Wanwan had been to that place; the mountain was full of maple trees, and it looked particularly beautiful in the autumn, so she had visited many times.
But now, with a heavy rainstorm and in the mountains, Ye Wanwan couldn’t help but worry, "Why did you run over there? With such heavy rain, what if there’s a landslide?"
