"Wanwan is fine; it was just a nightmare! Everything will be okay once she wakes up!" Shen Yi kept reassuring himself.
It was just a nightmare, albeit one of which he couldn’t fathom the cause. But this wasn’t the first time; he had dreamt it several times before!
It’s okay, everything would be fine once he woke up!
Once he woke up, all these terrifying things would vanish.
His Wanwan was still at home, waiting for him to come back!
Shen Yi dropped the Rebirth Plaque and turned to leave, but after only two steps, he stopped, and the next moment, Shen Yi collapsed on the ground.
"Amitabha," the old monk bowed slightly to the altar before opening his eyes and looking at the man lying on the ground.
When Assistant Chen arrived, he saw President Shen passed out on the ground; without a second thought, he rushed over and helped him up.
"President Shen!" Assistant Chen called out anxiously.
Shen Yi was already unconscious, muttering something under his breath; Assistant Chen thought he was just too weak but still conscious.
So, Assistant Chen leaned in to listen and only heard Shen Yi calling out indistinctly, "Wanwan..."
Assistant Chen was somewhat speechless for a moment; even at a time , President Shen was still thinking about his wife!
He was nearly scared to death by President Shen, okay?
Fortunately, they could now go down the mountain. Assistant Chen painstakingly helped him up, then managed to put him on his back with all the strength he could muster and carried him outside.
The old monk watched their departing figures and again said, "Amitabha."
Ye Wanwan had been worried about Shen Yi all night and only fell into a fitful sleep in the late hours.
When she woke up, she was momentarily confused but quickly sat up, fighting off the dizziness in her head, took her phone from the nightstand, and sent a message to Shen Yi.
After sending the message, Ye Wanwan stared at her phone, but even after three to five minutes, there was no reply from Shen Yi.
Unable to wait any longer, Ye Wanwan directly called Shen Yi; the phone didn’t indicate it was turned off, which meant his phone still had power.
But the call went unanswered until it automatically disconnected.
Ye Wanwan frowned tightly, and her heartbeat involuntarily quickened. She hurriedly called again.
The ringtone echoed in her ears, but it seemed Ye Wanwan’s heartbeat was even louder.
The moment the voice came through, Ye Wanwan breathed a huge sigh of relief.
But the next instant, her heart lifted again.
"Madam, it’s Assistant Chen."
Assistant Chen’s voice came through the phone, and Ye Wanwan promptly asked, "Where is Shen Yi?"
"President Shen got caught in the rain yesterday; he must have developed a fever in the middle of the night and is now unconscious. We’re on our way down the mountain and heading to the hospital. Please don’t worry too much."
Assistant Chen quickly explained, knowing that Madam Shen was pregnant and shouldn’t be overly anxious.
"Which hospital are you going to?" Hearing that he was already unconscious, Ye Wanwan became alarmed; she got out of bed quickly while still on the phone.
Knowing that Shen Yi had walked so long in the rain yesterday and not been able to take a hot bath or change his clothes afterwards, she had guessed he would certainly fall ill.
Thus, she stayed up worrying about it late into the night; she had not expected it to become so serious.
