"I’m on my way to the First Hospital," Assistant Chen said, and then hastily added, "Madam, please be safe on the road. I’ll take care of Shen Yi, so don’t worry!"
After all, Madam Shen was several months pregnant. If anything were to happen to her, it would be catastrophic.
"Okay, I understand. Please take care of Shen Yi for now," Ye Wanwan had already hurried towards the bathroom,
After hanging up the phone, Ye Wanwan quickly washed up, changed her clothes, and prepared to head directly to the hospital.
The maid was unaware of the situation and, upon seeing Ye Wanwan coming downstairs, was about to instruct the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
But before the maid could say anything, Ye Wanwan spoke first: "I won’t eat. Where’s Uncle Zhang? Find him for me; I need to go out."
Although the maid did not know what her mistress was up to, she did not ask any further and quickly turned around to find Uncle Zhang.
After a while, Uncle Zhang appeared in the living room. Ye Wanwan said as she walked out, "To the First Hospital."
When Ye Wanwan arrived, Shen Yi was already in the hospital ward but he was still unconscious, with the nurse helping him to set up an IV drip.
"Madam," seeing his wife at the door of the ward, Assistant Chen quickly approached.
"How is he?" Ye Wanwan asked while walking in.
"Almost forty degrees. The doctor has prescribed medication, and now we’re starting with IV fluids," Assistant Chen reported truthfully. Worried that Madam would worry, he added, "The doctor said it’s nothing serious. He’ll be fine as long as the fever goes down, so please don’t be too anxious."
Ye Wanwan still frowned, tilting her head to look at Assistant Chen, "What about you? Are you feeling unwell?"
Assistant Chen had been with Shen Yi all along, and his ordeal yesterday was the same as Shen Yi’s.
"I’m okay," Assistant Chen said. In fact, he had also developed a fever, though not as severe as Shen Yi’s. Perhaps, because all his thoughts were on his unconscious boss, Assistant Chen hadn’t felt too uncomfortable.
Ye Wanwan nodded, "Alright, then I’ll take care of things here, and you go have a look. If you’re not getting an IV, take some medicine."
"Understood, I’ll go in a while," Assistant Chen said but stood still without any intention to leave.
Both of them stood beside the hospital bed, watching over Shen Yi as he lay there. On the other side, after setting up the IV, the nurse looked up and was startled to see Ye Wanwan.
Then, the nurse kindly suggested, "The patient’s fever is almost forty degrees. Would you like to have another family member stay with him?"
"Hm?" Ye Wanwan looked at the nurse somewhat bewildered, not quite understanding what she meant.
The nurse explained, "If a pregnant woman catches a cold, she can’t use medication; she can only tough it out."
Ye Wanwan suddenly realized the implication, and Assistant Chen also quickly added, "Madam, let me take care of Shen Yi here."
"It’s okay," Ye Wanwan shook her head. She looked at Shen Yi, who was still unconscious on the bed, and couldn’t bring herself to leave him.
"Then you’d better wear a mask as a precaution." Aside from that, the nurse didn’t say anything more.
After the nurse left, Assistant Chen took the initiative to say, "Then Madam, you stay here, and I’ll go out to buy a few masks."
"Alright, thank you," Ye Wanwan was worried about Shen Yi, but she also had to consider the welfare of Zhouzhou in her belly.
Once Assistant Chen left the ward, Ye Wanwan sat down beside the hospital bed and watched over Shen Yi lying there.
