"Mm, okay." Ye Wanwan looked at Shen Yi, feeling inexplicably a bit guilty, then nodded somewhat blankly.
Shen Yi also sensed an oddly eerie atmosphere, but he didn’t know what had happened. The only thing he could be sure of was that Ye Wanwan wasn’t in any danger.
It was probably because the girls had just been discussing some rather private topics, and he had suddenly interrupted them by knocking on the door.
Shen Yi nodded slightly, "Then I’ll wait for you outside."
"Okay," Ye Wanwan agreed.
Shen Yi then closed the door and continued to walk back and forth down the hallway with Zhouzhou in his arms.
In the suite, Song Ziyi couldn’t help but want to laugh again, and got pushed by Ye Wanwan. Song Ziyi hastily retreated a few steps, acting as though she had been grievously wounded.
Ye Wanwan quickly rearranged the boxes she had haphazardly stuffed into her bag and then coughed twice, making sure her appearance was in order, before saying, "Let’s go, the banquet has started."
Coming out of the suite, Shen Yi was already waiting in the corridor and involuntarily smiled at Ye Wanwan when he saw her.
The group took the elevator together to the first-floor banquet hall.
Upon reaching the first floor, the elevator doors opened to reveal the busy flow of guests in the banquet hall. Today’s full-month celebration was quite a grand affair, with both the Shen and Ye families’ friends and relatives present.
Those who were closer in relationship all came over to see what the baby looked like. Luckily, Zhouzhou was a brave child, and even when surrounded by people, he was still calm and didn’t cry or fuss.
"This child is really good-looking!" one relative said to someone beside them.
The other person quickly chimed in, "Yes, he’s really handsome—definitely going to be a heartbreaker when he grows up!"
"The key is he’s brave. With so many people here, he’s not crying or fussing. He’ll surely do great things in the future!"
At such an event, everyone naturally had only pleasant things to say.
Although there were some who made snide remarks along the way, Ye Wanwan didn’t let any of that bother her. After all, today was Zhouzhou’s full-month celebration, and she wanted to be happy.
But as the banquet went on for a while, Zhouzhou started to cry while Ye Wanwan was eating—it was clear he was hungry.
So Ye Wanwan and Shen Yi excused themselves from the table to comfort Zhouzhou.
Zhouzhou was quickly sated, and Shen Yi held him up to burp. In less than two minutes, Zhouzhou was fast asleep in Shen Yi’s arms.
Checking the time, Shen Yi said to Ye Wanwan, "You go back down to eat first."
But Ye Wanwan shook her head, "No, let’s not go back."
Seeing that Shen Yi wanted to say something more, Ye Wanwan continued, "Zhouzhou has already made an appearance and once everyone’s done eating, they’ll disperse. Let’s tell mom and dad, then head back home."
Being downstairs with too many people around made Ye Wanwan’s head buzz with fatigue.
Although Ye Wanwan hadn’t done much, it was clear that she was already tired from being up early in the morning and bustling about.
Shen Yi noticed Ye Wanwan’s exhaustion, leaned forward slightly, and kissed her forehead tenderly before saying softly, "Okay."
Ye Wanwan then took out her phone to send a message to her family group informing the elders that they were heading home, and with that, she left with Shen Yi and Zhouzhou.
But before leaving, Ye Wanwan made sure not to forget to take the personal gifts that Song Ziyi and the other girls had brought in the suite.
