In the afternoon after school, Shen Wenzhou went home with Ye Chaochao. When they arrived home, Wanwan was not there. The housekeeper told them that Mr. Shen and Mrs. Shen had gone to a banquet.
It was a common occurrence, and neither Shen Wenzhou nor Ye Chaochao paid it any mind. The two of them had dinner, and afterward, they went to the third floor and returned to their respective rooms.
Not until Shen Wenzhou was about to rest did he hear the sound of a car outside the villa. He thought his parents must have come back.
Although he was ready to rest, Shen Wenzhou still came out of his bedroom and then encountered Ye Chaochao, who had also emerged from her room. They exchanged glances and went downstairs together.
Shen Yi and Ye Wan had just come in from outside when they saw Shen Wenzhou and Ye Chaochao, who had already bathed and changed into their pajamas.
"Haven’t you gone to bed yet?" Wanwan asked gently.
"I was just about to, but I heard some noise outside and knew you were back, so I came down to say hello," Ye Chaochao explained, and after pausing, she added, "Mommy, you look so pretty!"
Wanwan couldn’t help but laugh and cry; she stepped forward to ruffle Ye Chaochao’s hair and then looked at Zhouzhou, "It’s late; go up and rest."
"Okay," Shen Wenzhou nodded.
He didn’t actually have anything to say; he was simply used to saying goodnight to his family before going to bed.
Seeing that there were no guests and nothing else to say, he went back upstairs to rest.
When Shen Wenzhou lay down to rest in his bedroom, he didn’t feel sleepy. But he did nothing else, simply laying on the bed and quietly staring at the ceiling.
Eventually, Shen Wenzhou didn’t even know what time he fell asleep.
Shen Wenzhou was awoken by his alarm clock. The moment it rang, he opened his eyes and instinctively turned it off.
Afterward, Shen Wenzhou sat on the edge of the bed, staring blankly in one direction, as if he hadn’t fully awakened.
It took a while before Shen Wenzhou’s eyes gradually focused, and he slowly came to his senses.
He had been immersed in his dream, and for a moment, he couldn’t distinguish between the dream and reality, which is why it took him so long to snap out of it.
Shen Wenzhou took a deep breath and got up to walk to the bathroom.
As usual, Shen Wenzhou washed up, changed his clothes, walked out of his bedroom, and knocked on the door of Ye Chaochao’s room next door.
"Chaochao, are you up yet?" Shen Wenzhou asked from outside the door after knocking.
A voice came from the bedroom, "I’m up."
After hearing the response, Shen Wenzhou didn’t urge further and turned to head downstairs.
However, he had only taken a few steps when he suddenly stopped. He remembered the dreams he had had.
Why wasn’t Chaochao in his dreams?
His dreams were full of strange things, completely different from reality.
Shen Wenzhou told himself it was nothing strange; it was just a dream, after all.
Dreams themselves are a bizarre existence.
But just then, he suddenly thought about it again: why did his dreams include all sorts of chaos, but Chaochao never appeared from start to finish?
Shen Wenzhou paused for several seconds before he regained his senses and continued walking downstairs.
Wanwan hadn’t gotten up yet. The family of three who needed to leave early had breakfast together. Shen Wenzhou didn’t know why, but he found himself thinking about that question again. So, during breakfast, he found his gaze frequently falling on Ye Chaochao.
