93 It Wouldn’t Work on Me
Zhao Chuchu went on. “You see, I’m narrow-minded, and I hold grudges against people who offend me. All of you who spat out slanders at me, don’t say I didn’t give you a chance. The owner and Doctor Tian blanched at her words.
There was an unexplainable delight in Doctor Lu’s heart.

There was quite some distance to Doctor Lu’s place from their location. Thus, he came by horse carriage.
The person he brought with him was a man who looked somewhat similar to the lying-in woman. He must be her elder or younger brother.
“Thank you for saving my sister’s life, doctor.” The man expressed his gratitude wholeheartedly.
Zhao Chuchu questioned with curiosity, “What leads you to call for Doctor Lu?”
“We’ve heard rumors saying Doctor Tian won’t save patients who are near death. We were just holding on to a glimmer of hope since Spring Medical Hall is the nearest.” The woman’s brother added. “Thank goodness we met you today, Doctor Zhao. If it wasn’t for you, I’m afraid…”
At that, the woman’s brother’s eyes reddened. His voice sniffled, but no words came out of his mouth.
“It was fate that I met the mother and child. Stop crying, bro. Your sister is still in critical condition. I still have a lot to do at Doctor Lu’s. So can you please send a letter back to my husband? I’m afraid he will be worried after waiting too long.”
“Okay, which inn is it? I will go now.” The woman’s brother wiped his tears away.
After telling him the inn’s name, Zhao Chuchu continued, “My husband is Xie Heng. Just tell him I’m saving someone, and it will take some time.”
“Alright. I got it.” He immediately rushed off to send the letter after replying.
After leaving, Doctor Lu asked, “Chuchu, is her condition dangerous?”
“Yes. I’m just sealing her acupoints with needles. I still need to rescue her later.” Zhao Chuchu nodded.
The man’s face paled in terror. “Doctor, please save my wife. I will do anything to repay you.”
“Don’t worry. Since I dare to ask you to move her somewhere else, I have the confidence to save her.” Zhao Chuchu reassured.
“If Chuchu says she can do it, you have nothing to worry about anymore,” Doctor Lu uttered. A short pause later, he asked, “Is there anything I can help you with later?”
“Yes.” Zhao Chuchu instructed Doctor Lu on what she would need his help with.
Doctor Lu was an interesting person. At first, he was dubious about Zhao Chuchu but was the quickest to apologize after witnessing her capability.
This man was short-tempered but not a spiteful person.
Upon arriving at Doctor Lu’s place, Zhao Chuchu ordered the man to place his wife in a proper place and pass the child to her. Doctor Lu left the scene thoughtfully.
Considering his gender, he should not stay longer since Zhao Chuchu was already there for the lying-in woman.
After watching the lying-in woman’s ashen countenance, Zhao Chuchu let out a deep sigh. If she didn’t come across them, they would really end up becoming two corpses.
