94 Won’t Drive Them Into a Corner
Zhao Chuchu used her healing power to save the patient as quickly as possible.

Upon seeing Zhao Chuchu, the man immediately went up to her. “Doctor, how is my wife doing?”
“She’s doing fine. However, her body is feeble now. You’ll have to tonify and help revitalize her wasted body. As for the medicine, Doctor Lu will deal with you himself. You only have to pay me the amount I paid to Spring Medical Hall.”
The man responded vigorously. He then pulled out a cloth bag and handed it to Zhao Chuchu. “Doctor, you’ve put a lot of effort into saving lives. So I can’t have you not accepting the treatment fee. This is a little token of my appreciation. Please accept it.”
Zhao Chuchu gauged the weight and figured it must be their family’s entire savings.
She did not lack money or food. Now that she had saved someone’s life, she wouldn’t drive them into a corner.
After opening the cloth bag, Zhao Chuchu noticed three taels of silver and hundreds of copper coins inside. After taking about seven pennyworths of silver and 50 copper coins, she returned the remaining to the man.

Well, she did so because her original intent was to save them.
“Your wife’s condition has stabilized. You should stay here in the meantime. I shall return to the inn now, or else my husband will be worried.” Zhao Chuchu declared.
“Chuchu, should we send someone to bring him here first? Then the two of you can have dinner and leave tomorrow?” Doctor Lu’s wife, Madam Fang, walked up to Zhao Chuchu.
Zhao Chuchu rejected. “No, thank you. I still have a lot of things waiting for me at home. Until next time then.”
“Hold your horses, honey. Let Chuchu go. Otherwise, A Heng will be worried.”
“Well then. Hold on a minute, Chuchu.”
With that, Madam Fang turned around and went inside. In a flash, she brought a small basket with her.
“This cured meat is homemade. Take it back with you and savor it. Don’t forget to visit us when you come again next time.”
“Sure thing.”
Zhao Chuchu stopped being reserved and accepted the gift.
Just as she stepped out of the house, the lying-in woman’s brother arrived alongside Xie Heng and the rest.
“Why are you all here?” Zhao Chuchu was surprised.
Xie Jun immediately responded. “This man told us you got into trouble. Brother said we should come and have a look. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Zhao Chuchu patted Xie Jun’s head and looked at Xie Heng.
The lower half of Xie Heng’s countenance could be seen, and its contour was dainty. The shape of his red lips was a pleasant sight to behold. When he pursed them, they looked like delicious jelly, tempting one to bite them.
“Can we go home already?” Xie Heng’s eyes were covered in cloth. But he could still pinpoint Zhao Chuchu’s direction accurately.
“Let’s go,” Zhao Chuchu answered with a smile. A man who was too attractive was a recipe for trouble!
