"What are you standing there for? Why don’t you come in?"
Fu Xing’s voice echoed from inside.
As Lin Fu walked around a decorative screen, her view suddenly expanded into the vast universe on the left side, dazzingly beautiful and bewilderingly vast.
Standing in front of the glass curtain, she felt incredibly small, and alone.
Lin Fu was so captivated by the view that she had no idea how long she had been standing there until suddenly, someone embraced her from behind.
She exclaimed, turning around hastily, only to unexpectedly meet the devastatingly handsome face of the man.
Lin Fu’s breath hitched, and she forgot to think.
Fu Xing, with his slender fingers, pinched her chin and scrutinized her seriously, "Have you gained weight?"
As soon as Lin Fu heard "gained weight," she bristled, pushing Fu Xing away and quickly running to a mirror-like decoration beside the bookshelf, frantically checking her reflection.
Thank goodness she hadn’t gained weight; it scared her to death.
Fu Xing’s handsome face darkened, and he stood behind her with his arms crossed, chuckling coldly, "They say the broader the mind, the plumper the body, with your broad mind, you must have gained weight."
Lin Fu finally realized he was mocking her, and that she hadn’t picked up on it earlier.
But she was the one who had caused trouble, and yet he was the one cleaning up the mess.
Indeed, it was her fault, so a few mocking words from him were deserved.
"I’m sorry, I was wrong, I apologize to you," Lin Fu said, her attitude sincere and docile as if she were a schoolgirl.
Fu Xing, massaging his temples with a pained expression, sat down on an armchair, his posture casual yet still exuding authority.
"Don’t just stand there."
He pointed to the armchair opposite him.
Lin Fu immediately obeyed, and after sitting down, she realized how big the armchair was, nearly swallowing her up—nothing intimidating about it, even a bit cute.
Her long, beautiful legs kicked around in the air a couple of times, trying to emulate Fu Xing’s authoritative yet elegant demeanor.
Unfortunately, her height of 1.7 meters couldn’t quite match his towering 1.89 meters.
Fu Xing’s lips curved slightly upward, and he coughed gently with his right fist at his lips, unable to watch any longer, he pointed at the armrest of the sofa.
Lin Fu caught on quickly and found the automatic button; the armchair immediately adjusted to the right height for her size.
"That’s so much better, thank you."
Fu Xing, his hand propping his chin lazily, watched Lin Fu for a long while without speaking.
Lin Fu felt oddly unsettled and flustered under his gaze.
What was this guy really up to?
But Lin Fu wasn’t one to be passive; she preferred taking the initiative, "Ahem..." She cleared her throat gently, putting aside her earlier embarrassment before asking, "I heard you guys are heading to the Dalania Kaya Battlefield? How long will you be gone?"
"About a year and a half. The Dalania Kaya Battlefield is located at the very fringe of the Empire, requiring sixteen spatial jumps from Capital Star. The fleet will travel continuously for three months and twenty-seven days, not counting any unforeseen issues we might encounter."
Fu Xing explained patiently, "The situation there is complex, as the Free Federation has already taken over several small fortresses."
Hearing this, Lin Fu felt a surge of relief; not being on Capital Star for a year and a half meant she’d be freer, not constantly cautious like she had a sword hanging over her head.
Well, actually, Fu Xing hadn’t really interfered with her life, rather, he had helped her a lot.
Thinking this, she felt somewhat reluctant to see him go.
Life, it seemed, was never perfect.
