"Are you happy?" Fu Xing’s eyes gave a faint glance, exuding a dangerous aura.
"No, absolutely not. You are my backbone, my pillar of support. Without you on Capital Star, I would be lost. I’m just worried, what if Theresa comes looking for trouble again?"
Fu Xing’s expression then improved slightly, his ear tips even turned a bit red, and he uncomfortably shifted to a more proper sitting posture.
"Really?" His voice was low as he asked.
"Of course, it’s the honest truth."
"Alright! Then, when I return..."
"Knock, knock, knock." The rhythmic knocking sound at the office door interrupted Fu Xing, "Commander, Elbert’s people have arrived."
The door automatically opened. Joter and Omnia, along with Mervin and a dozen others, lined up in formation, their faces stern and their steps synchronized as they walked in.
Upon entering, they automatically split to both sides and saluted simultaneously.
Lin Fu was taken aback, Teacher Joter? Coach Omnia? And why had the members of their squad come?
At this realization, Lin Fu finally understood why Fu Xing was sitting in this position to greet guests.
He was waiting for someone.
But why had he allowed her to sit there like that? While it was impressive and dominant, it was inappropriate for her to sit —her teachers and classmates had arrived.
It was utterly improper.
Startled, Lin Fu immediately got up from the couch and joined the end of the line, saluting with the others.
"Mr. Major General, good day."
"Sit!" Fu Xing’s voice was indifferent, his expression cold and aloof, not at all like he had been just a moment ago.
Joter and the dozen others were already sweating nervously, having been preparing ever since they received the notice. Now that they had finally arrived aboard the Asgard, they were even more on edge.
Seeing Major General Fu Xing in person, he indeed seemed even more imposing than in the stories.
As everyone sat down and turned their heads, they only then noticed Lin Fu, who had somehow blended into their group.
Joter was at a loss, unsure of how to behave around Lin Fu.
It was likely that Principal Fu Yunzhe was relieved he had failed to recruit her.
Considering Principal Fu Yunzhe, though older, did not have a higher status than Major General Fu Xing, Lin Fu’s presence would have surely given him a headache had she gone to him!
Anton and the others were delighted to see Lin Fu, winking and making faces until Joter silenced them with a look, and they settled down.
"You have all been asking me for her, so now that she’s here, give me a reason I can trust; otherwise, I will not hand Lin Fu over to you." Fu Xing’s deep, piercing eyes weighed down on everyone like a mountain, leaving them gasping for breath.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on many foreheads.
Joter took a deep breath and stood up, "Mr. Major General, the school has already made it clear that it will fully support Lin Fu. Everyone saw what happened that day; it was the lady-in-waiting Nora who intentionally caused trouble, making unreasonable demands of our students. Principal Admiral Xia Zeming has also expressed his opinion."
Those simple three words defeated all the explanations Joter had prepared.
"What I demand is victory. I’ve shouldered all the external pressure so far, but who can guarantee your victory? The first place, can you... do it?"
The final "can you do it?" sounded like two resounding slaps across everyone’s faces.
From top to bottom, everyone in Elbert had red faces and clenched fists; I had to endure.
So perhaps others had no right to question, but Fu Xing was the most entitled to say those words.
And yet, Elbert had no excuse to retort.
Because ten years ago, they had lost to Fu Xing, and since then, they had never won again.
