Neriah knew that to reach Lyle, she would have to have a reasonable plan. The young man who was imprisoned had fallen for her lies and told her how to reach Lyle, but Neriah was too worried to tell anyone about it. If she told them she knew a way to get to him, they would go after him and she was scared of what happened to Barak repeating itself.
One thing was clear, she was the only one who could get to Lyle because she believed he still wanted to have her for himself, therefore he would not kill her. At least not before she was able to run a dagger through his heart.
The big problem now was how to disguise her trip to meet with Lyle so no one would find out and get hurt because of her again.
"Neriah, it is I, your Father-in-law, are you awake? May I come in?" Neriah flinched out of her thoughts as she heard her father-in-law’s voice. He hardly ever paid her a visit alone. He was always with his wife, so it made her wonder why he had come alone.
"Please come in, Your Majesty." Neriah said and the door opened.
The big tall dark man entered the room in a simple evening attire. Neriah rose to her feet to greet him and the man almost ran towards her with his hands indicating that she not bother with the formalities.
"Please my dear, remain seated. Do not tire yourself for mere formalities." He said. And Neriah gave him the smile she could manage to produce all the while still wondering what the reason for his spontaneous visit could be.
"Did you cry again?" Neriah’s eyes opened wide as the man’s words left his lips. He took a seat and pulled it close to her before sitting himself down next to her. "You must be wondering why I am here alone." He said and Neriah genuinely nodded her head.
"Rakavi told me she had visited you earlier today and did not like the look in your eyes."
"W_what does she—"
"You see my dear," He suddenly reached for her hand, he hesitated a second before taking it in his own. He held her small hand in his big left hand and patted the back with huss left as he continued to speak.
"When my wife and I were to be married, she was kidnapped and tortured for a very long time by my enemies. The physical pain and also emotional pain longing for her loved one overwhelmed her to the point where she had tried to take her own life."
Neriah gasped as she heard the story he was telling her. Queen Rakavi always looked bright and bold. Who would have known she had gone through such a horrible past before?
"Rakavi is scared that the look in your eyes reminds her of herself during that time of her life. She fears that the news of_" He paused, then strokes the back of her hand gently again before speaking, "of Barak’s death has scarred you to the point that you would do something unthinkable to yourself."
Neriah tensed as she realized what her father-in-law was trying to say. How did they find out? She had informed Rakavi about her going to the dungeon because she knew they would find out about her going there one way or another. What she hadn’t told them was that she had managed to get information from the man.
So it made Neriah wonder if her plans were really that obvious? How could Rakavi realize that_ that she was trying to kill herself?
Aye, that was her plan... She would kill Lyle, then go and join Barak in the afterlife with their unborn child. Yes, she knew it was selfish of her to want to take her life and that of her child, but one thing she regretted the most was not telling Barak that they were having a baby.
So call her mad, but she wanted to go to the afterlife with her child and show it to him there. She was going to tell him about it in the afterlife. If she waited to have the child before she killed herself, then Barak would never get to hold his child. So she would die with her child so her husband could hold their baby in the afterlife.
This was her real plan.
But was she so obvious? That she wanted death? How could Rakavi tell?
